Etihad the national airline of United Arab Emirates started operations in Nov 2003 and planned to become a major player in the airline industry within 5 years based on the Emirates hub and spoke system. The advantage Etihad have over the competition is their business plan is based on Government funding. The family who own UAE have resouces beyond our dreams especially when you look at the US5 billion order last year for new planes. As Etihad do not have to make a profit then we as passengers should enjoy the lower fares !

Have flown with Emirates ex Manchester (silver member) Now booked with Etihad 4/9 - 28/9 cost £411.00 - £80.00 cheaper than Emirates ! Two flights a year with Emirates allow me an upgrade to business on one of the flight sectors - is the extra cost of flying Emirates worth it ?
-
I know Emirates have plans to use this plane on long haul flights with 600 passengers to copy the easy jet european system. If Emirates are succesful you could see the following fares : London- Sydney £250.00 London - Hong Kong £200.00 London- Bangkok £ 200.00 London- New York £150.00 Above fares are exclusive of airport taxes.

The flights BKK-AUD are double daily from 5 June, i.e. 0905 and 2100 departures every day ex BKK. Prior to that date Sun, Mon and Tue are a single flight at 0905. The remaining four days have two departures at 0905 and 2100. So check with your operator if flying prior to 5th June.

Will be interesting to see how Emirates prices reflect the lost business to Qatar and Etihad ex Manchester ? At the moment Emirates continue to charge £70 to £100 above Qatar and Etihad - How long will this last ?

Based on the usual websites ex Manchester end of April/early May Etihad are on average £50 cheaper than Qatar and £100 cheaper than Emirates !

I was under the impression that on the Gatwick service the new Boeing 777-300ER would be used and the existing Airbus A330 would be transferred to Manchester for the service staring on 27th March ? No doubt Etihad will offer some special fares as they usually do when commencing a new service. The best price i could get at the moment with any online operator was Dial a Flight 28th April - 21st May £353.00 incl tax.
