  1. Excellent update Pete and thanks for that, i have been anxiously looking for the update Good to hear that things are looking good, 40 days and i will be there and FLB/Cherry 1 and 2 and your bar are all on the list for visits Roll on December 20th
  2. I guess it is this one http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?JwuRUwiskcRB
  3. Sounds great, wish i could be there, 6 weeks to go
  4. Wish i could be there, 44 days to wheels up
  5. Nice set of girls, look forward to visiting at Xmas
  6. Yes it was expensive but i have a credit card with 15 months interest free credit, so i thought, what the heck The thought of the bus had crossed my mind, a little slower pace down to patts and see the views at leisure but i cannot decide, my guess is i will go with the taxi. Thanks for your input though Andy
  7. Thanks for reminding me to read the latest updates
  8. Who ??, me This year i treated myself, flying Thai airways and landing at 0610am(hopefully) in a comfortable part of the plane with 9 other people in my cabin. If all goes well, i will be through customs like a rocket and be outside the airport by 0630am and then wait for the first bell bus at 0800am to save 1050 baht. Or option 2, outside airport at 0630am, taxi waiting and in Pattaya by 0800am, drop off bags and change into shorts and flip flops and out for a beer on beach road by 0830am. Let me think about this
  9. Great vid, looking forward to visiting soon
  10. Bollocks I still have plenty of time to make my decision, and not as if i am counting, but ... to wheels up So i shall keep reading peoples views and then go for one, whichever one it is will probably be wrong though
  11. It's "Mr Toom" And that does not help people looking for a taxi. All taxi firms seem to have good and bad days, none are perfect and that applies anywhere in the world. Having said that, i still prefer to pre book with one or other and will soon make my decision on which one i pick.
  12. Summer spring looks great, http://76.163.112.40/ Unfortunately i had already booked the Sandy Spring or i would give it a try, but i am looking forward to being in the Soi 13 area.
  13. I am arriving at Xmas (20.10.08 )and my flight officially lands at 0610 am, and am undecided which to use. I have twice used Mr Toom and the first time he was good, the second time i could not find his driver and had to phone him and the driver turned up 30mins later, which is not ideal. So basically, my choice is Mr Toom, Mr T or Limo Pattaya and i have to decide which is going to get there to pick me up that early in the morning ??
  14. Some would say the whole of pattaya is downmarket. My first trip i stayed at the Sabai lodge and loved it, link here for the sabai lodge and sabai resort http://www.sabailodge.co.th/ My second trip i stayed in the LK Metropole in Soi Bukhao, loved the area for a change. http://www.lkpattayahotel.com/metropole/index.html This trip i have the Sandy spring http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/ As some have said, soi 7 / 8 can be noisy, but up to you. ---------------------------------------- This bar site has links to some hotels and they will normally reply to your emails fairly quickly to advise availability http://www.scandibar.com/hotel/
  15. Depends on your dates as late December can be the busy / expensive season. Plenty of hotels around but what are you looking for in a hotel and in any particular area ??? I arrive 19th December and have the Sandy Spring booked but its a bit more than your budget.
  16. Netflights are showing london for £433 and manchester for £512 http://www.netflights.com/SpecialOffersGat...EMIUMONLY=False
  17. Last time i flew out of Heathrow, there was a car crash on the roads around the airport which caused horrendous delays and although i was staying at a heathrow hotel, the heathrow hoppa bus was massively delayed. I arrived late for my flight but they announced that the airline crew bus was delayed and the departure was an hour late, so i was ok. Now i make sure i am early for every flight and enjoy sitting around people watching whilst i wait.
  18. Enjoy your trip, chances of someone to share a taxi are pretty slim Make sure you join the full board to get updates on what people are enjoying in Pattaya, check this post and send an email http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5880
  19. From beach road, go up Pattaya tai and turn right on second road and you will see this view http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?UGuRUGookc8D Those baht buses on the left wait there all day and once loaded with people they head off to Jomtien. Get one of those to Jomtien and then find another one which will head down beach road jomtien right to the end. Or find one which is empty and ask for prices to take you down to jomtien and haggle the fee if they will.
  20. this one ?? http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?r7YRUCGvkcrC
  21. Looks good and worth a try, assuming with your lamb chops you had Veg etc it looks good value when a cheesburger is 220 baht and french fries is 90baht, from what i can make out on the price list.
  22. Did it work for you then
  23. Excellent report and pics, thanks for sharing that experience Never tried korean but that seafood soup looks worth a try on it own. Thankyou
  24. good report on the hotel and thanks for that, i am in the Sandy Spring at Xmas so maybe we will meet
