Golfing book I've got to get a copy of....

Recommended Posts

To all golfers out there that are as bad as I am, then this book review might be of some interest. It appeared in a local paper here in SA but they have no website worthy of mention so I can't cut and paste the article. So what follows is a brief extract from that review that had me laughing out loud simply at some of the Chapter titles............

Forget Tiger Woods or the myriad of other pros who collect their thousands for filling the pages of Golf Digest with tips that radically improve the game of golfers everywhere. They are of little help to those of us that CAN'T play the game. For us help is now at hand. There is a new tipster on the golfing scene with whom I - and, I'm sure, thousands of other hackers - can readily identify. His name is Bobbie Rusher and his latest offering is delightfully entitled....."How to line up your 4th putt".

Some of the more notable chapters in a side-splittingly funny book are......

How to hit a Top-Flite from the rough (when you hit a Titleist from the tee).

How to avoid the water when you lie eight in the bunker.

How to get more distance from a shank.

Using your shadow on the greens to maximise earnings.

How to let a four-ball play through your two-ball without embarrassment.

When to suggest swing corrections to an opponent.

How to relax when you are hitting five off the tee.

How to find the ball that everyone else saw go in the water.

Rusher is apparently working on a sequel, the title of which will be "When to re-grip your ball retriever"

:nod :D :D

This is a guy I can relate to - I'll be buying it !!!!!!

Cheers

Pieman,

Sounds like just the thing needed for my game. With this sort of expert advice the Europeans will be a cert for the Rideher Cup this year. Could you pick up a second copy for me and I will fix you up for it in November - that is if you manage to survive your September trip which from the sound of things may be somewhat doubtful. :nod :D :D

Best Wishes

Though I might take a look at this book but it looks like out of print and second hand copies of the 2001 printing are selling for around $100. God, that makes it a fairly pricy book! Not sure it is that funny!

Cheers

Sounds like my type of book as well

As far as the question about avoiding the water when your lying 8 in the bunker - I would have thought that the answer to that is obvious. You leave the ball in the sand! :beer

Though I am actually not a golfer, this 1 still got me laughing...

If someone manages to get that book, I am a game for a photocopy of it.

Is there a 'tennis version' of it, per chance? :beer
