Flown with Qatar quite a few times and I like them. Modern planes, plenty of entertainment options (loads of games/films/music etc) friendly staff and the food is almost edible :D

I don't mind the stop-overs in Doha either as the airport is nice enough and it gives me a chance to jack up my nicotine levels for the next leg of the journey.

If you're looking at various different airlines you may want to check this site out Link I've found it useful in the past

Went with them a few years ago, 4 hour stopover in Doha outbound, 1 hour on return, they gave me a free food voucher to use in the restaurant , good flight, food okay, Airbus A330 planes with seat back IFE, if I remember correctly no alcohol available in Doha and nothing to do except look around the shops.

I regularly fly with Qatar from Manchester - Doha is preferable to Heathrow for a layover.

They are ranked on Skytrax as a 5 Star airline alongside Singapaore and Cathay but I would put them one notch below purely because of the professionalism of the FAs and the facilities at their home base. However, their prices are consistently 20-25% lower than Singapore (and Emirates) which makes them a much better value for money deal IMO.

The aircraft throughout the route LHR-DOH-BKK are brand new A330-300s and have personal TV throughout with Audio/Video on demand. The seating in economy is quite spacious as compared to that on Emirates.

Doha airport is similar to what Dubai was a few years ago - ciggies are around GBP 7 for 200 and JW Black or Chivas around GBP 14 for 1 litre.

I tend to get their Thursday evening flight from UK which gets in BKK at 18:45 (in the winter months) on the Friday evening which is just right for a night or two in BKK to chill out before moving down to Pattaya on the Sunday when the road is quieter.

Have a look at their website - it's a pretty good source of info.

p.s. Where did you get your deal from - it sounds very good. :eyecrazy

Frequent flyer with them as I work in Qatar. Good flight and good service. Gets me in Bangkok at 6.30am, hotel before 8am. Off to Madrid bar Patpong for Breakfast and then the world is my oyster.

You can't get a drink at Doha unless you go to the Qatar Airlines business lounge. I ended up buying half a litre in the duty free and having occasional sips in the bogs.

I then took the bottle onboard (KLM) with me in my laptop case. We stopped at Damman in Saudi and the Saudi police had a good search of the plane for any open bottles of alc.

Just be careful.

Millwall,

Who did you book with? I will be flying on the evening flight from MAN on Thu 10 Nov.

There is plenty of free-flowing booze on the flights so there is absolutely no worries about the lack of booze in Doha.
