The FLB's NFL League

I have gotten several PM's from guys wanting to play in an NFL fanasty football league. Last year we gave it a go on Yahoo which was ok but it had it's limitations. So this year I decided to check out the ESPN system.

 

This year, I think that the game will be much more competitive and we have a lot of cool options

 

1st there will be a limit of just 10 teams in the league. This will mean that everyone has a chance to fill their rosters with talent.

 

2nd if we can agree on a day and time, there will be a LIVE draft. No more of this computer generated crap. But for those who miss the draft time, the computer will still pick the team for you based on the preset order you have chosen for your draft board. I would suggest that we schedule the live draft on a weekend night at 11pm New York time. That would make it reasonable for most of the Americans, be some time in the morning in Thailand, and hopefully, not to late for our friends in England and the rest of Europe. But I'm open to other suggestions...

 

3rd the scoring will reward your players for performance and punish them for their failings.

 

Anyone who is interested in playing, send me a PM with your (real) name and email address. The ESPN system is set up so that I'll need to send invites to the team owners. Remember, there are only 10 spots so it's first come, first play

Wow, this league filled up fast

 

Remember there are only 10 spots in the league. This one is for serious players. Hopefully, we will have guys who will be competitive from the first game till the playoffs. Talking smack will be encouraged and personally, I think making trades once the draft is done just adds to the fun.

I am also holding a spot for Hammer, Greg_B, Gary, and Gilly. As of these guys played last year and had expressed an interest in being in this years league.

 

That makes 9 who are either in, invited, or waiting for a reply. The last spot goes to the first taker. But again, let me remind you that I know all but one of these guys and they all know their shit. This league is for the serious players.

 

Once we have all 10 "joined" we'll do a quick vote to see if we as a league want to expand it to 12. Personally, I like the 10 team format because we all end up with more talent. And we can always start another league if more guys show an interest..

Definitely an early season technical problem , not poor drafting, or failing to start Keenan McCardell, Keyshown Johnson and Michael Vick.

9 Friggin years...

 

It was 9 friggin years ago that I got the bright idea to start a 10 team draft league. And in all of those years I have never had a chance to win a single trophy... nothing. I have had a iron strong lock on the 5th-6th spot.

 

But that all changed this year. This weekend I get to play in the Championship Game. It's a 2 week process and I won the 1st week 150-77 and the preview rankings show me as a +37 point favorite going into the last week.

 

So finally, after 9 Friggin years I will have something to put in my virtual trophy case.

I guess it's time for a Fantasy Football update... the NFL's first preseason game is this weekend.

 

Sidenote: I tossed together an EPL squad this past week and expect another mid-table finish. The FLB league is up and running with about 15 teams listed so far.

 

The 10 team draft league that was the topic of this thread is still alive and well. We started with 10 teams on the ESPN site and still have all of the original guys. Our draft will be towards the end of Aug. and I can only dream of getting another solid team like I had last year.

 

Some time in mid-Aug I expect the ESPN site to open up the Gridiron game again. When that happens I'll be starting a new thread to let everyone know that it's up and running. That one is open to anyone and I try to post an invite thread on most of the boards...

 

Lastly, if anyone has an open slot in their existing NFL fantasy online draft league or wants to take the lead in putting a new one together and is looking for players... I'd be interested in joining and could maybe bring a couple of guys along with me. I'm already running two leagues so I'm not interested in managing another new league but I'm open to joining another league if someone esle wants to do the grunt work-

I must be slipping... this is the first time that I can remember when anyone beat me to the punch on setting up a team-

 

I'll start a new thread for this year's league that I'll toss on several of the boards. But in answer to your question about setting up 2 teams. That is something that ESPN started last year. I had 2 teams Shilo72_1 and Shilo72_2. I'm guessing that you set up 2 teams and deleted the _1_2 so they both have the same name.

 

To be honest, I don't know if you can rename or delete them. You could try sending an email to the site support guys. Personally, I kind of enjoyed having 2 bites at the apple last year and will probably set up a second team before the season starts. Through if last year is any gauge it won't matter. I tend to have a pretty good idea who I want each week and through the year there wasn't much difference between the two teams.

 

Thanks for the heads up that the Gridiron is up and running. Past experience says we should end up with about 25-30 players and a VERY competitive league.
