Hello people.

When i was last in pattaya(3 weeks ago) i became very attached to that mexican place on soi 7. I had steak in there many times and loved it.

What are your thoughts on this place?

Also can you tell me of any other decent steak houses in pattaya that i can visit when i go back to pattaya at xmas?

Thanks

p.s Me big steak lover....... i tell you true.

El Toro opposite the royal garden, the owner is a good friend of mine, great service and of course steak.

I've done the 1 kilo steal already in the big horn steakhouse but IMO the steak is better in el toro. :D

Maybe I just hit it wrong but I've tried El Torro twice and not enjoyed the steak. The service and staff are great, but I'm there for the meat, sorry!

The guy that owns that place used to own a very nice place in San Francisco. He decided to come here and open that place. The company I worked for in the states before retireing here in Pattaya sold him his meat he only bought top of the line product never cutting corners and in speaking with him here he buys the best he can get here as well Some like the place some don't That being said I think the Mexican food at the Blue Parrot is just as good.

It's called Tequila Reef and I concur that it's a great place to go for a meal or a drink. I always seem to manage to have a few margarita's or daquiri's chatting to 'Tequila John' a good bloke and one of the co owners.

(Reading this, it sounds like a paid promotion. It's not, it's just I find T/Reef a really good place to hang out.)

I agree on the Blue Parrot...it's not exciting, but rock solid reliable.

For a steak, if you don't want to eat half a cow, but still want quality, try Ma Maison.

I tried Tequila reef twice and i didn't think the food was even above average, i didn't have steak though, just ribs and some mexican food.

Best steak i had in Pattaya was in Patrick's Belgian Restaurant, 300g of juicy, tender meat, cooked just the way you like it. Not to mention the sauce was awesome.

Patrick's is also exellent choise if you like mussles, on fridays you can have huge portion of them made in belgian style just for 250 bath!

For a Pattaya Mexican restaurant Tequila Reef is just OK. I've eaten the steak there many times and it like many things in LOS varies. I've had good and I''ve had very bad. The management is very gracious and have either replaced or removed from the bill the offending meat.

One time I was with Pukky my favorite BG and I complained and they didn't charge me. She was surprised and told me if we were in a Thai joint the waitress would very well have accused me of trying to beat the bill if I was a Thai guy. Seems like there a side of Thailand as farangs we don't see.

I enjoy eating the t-bone steak at the Right Spot, just down Walking St from the FLB (going towards Tony's). It's flavorful, actually is a t-bone, and is generally savory. I have some friends who swear by their Kobe steak as well.

Looks like i am going to be doing lots of traveling around pattaya visiting steak places.............

Thanks for your response.

I also enjoyed eating in tops at that place called Coca(think i spelled it right), i like the suki they do in there(in fact i like all the food they do in there). They did have a crab promotion on in there when i was recently last over there though and they had a load of live crabs greeting you and blinking at you from a table at the entrance. Poor little things(bless, it nearly brought a tear to my eye lol).

I wouldn't try a steak at Tequila Reef, not after the tasteless slop I got that was pretending to be ribs & chicken.

BTW BiGD, I notice the esteemed Pukky cropping up in some of your recent posts.

Miss her? :banghead :D

Funny,

No one mentioned Sizzler or Benihana. Both located at the RGP mall. I haven’t tried either in Pattaya, although Benihana has very good Japanese steak here in the States. Last trip a good friend treated me and my TGF to dinner at the Lobster Pot on Walking Street. Not being a “seafood person†I ordered the steak. It was a very good steak which was a little bit surprising from a seafood place.

I’m curious as to the opinion about which is the best of the Soi Dianna Steak Houses.

As an afterthought with so many of the boardmember also being patrons of the Royal Gardens Hotel I was curious about the Captains Corner “all you can eat steak/BBQ†Buffet. Worth the money / trip or not, if not a hotel guest?

this is only second hand but a mate of mine raves on about a french restaurant along soi 3 for steaks not sure of its name. will try it out myself in sept and post a review

sparky

That would be Chez Bernard. Had a good meal there months ago and keep intending to go back but haven't so far.

Had a steak at El Toro that was mediocre but a friend said I should have ordered the pepper steak. So with that in mind, folks opinions on steaks at various restaurants may well depend on the specific cut that's ordered.
