Everyone should absolutely stay at Skytop and avoid going to the new clean and very inexpensive places on Soi Buchao and Soi LK Metro. Last year I had those places almost to myself and now they are booked solid so please go to Skytop.

If anybody does book the Sky-Top don't forget to mention BigD's name or he won't get his commission...

:finger

I don't get a commission nor do I need one. :fingers The reason I want guys to mention my name it's a way to figure out how much power this forum has to throw business one way or the other. Lot of guys from here have stayed at Sky-Top and many are repeat customers.

Lots of new places on Soi Buchow (s). My impression and a friend of mine confirmed it you need to rent a motorbike to get around easy. Next trip I'll have to spend more time up there and try and figure out what's up.

Guys should post details on all the new places like Soi7 does. We cheap Charley need all the good cheap rooms we can find.

BigD,

not really need a motor Bike as where the bulk of the new Places have been built ( Soi LK ) is just a short stroll down Soi Diana. And there are a bunch I would say 15 or more hotels on that small Soi alone and all new and very cheap :fingers

Of course the cheap charlies need a motorbike, no way they will pay the Bt30 or so to get up to Soi Buakhow.

The question is whether they will pay to rent a bike. At circa 3k per month, that would be about the same as the stipend they give their live ins.

The expat's I talked to give their live in GF 6 to 10 K per month. Plus they have to come by the condo and buy a drink everyday and get permission if they want to go to BKK to go shopping. B)

Why pay 30 baht each time I want to get back to the hotel on soi LK when I can pay 10 to get back to Sky-Top? Adds up day after day.

Those of you that think that there is a transportation problem if you stay at one of those new places located near the corner of Soi Diana and Soi Buakaow have absolutely no clue of its geography or the baht bus routes of Pattaya. From that area you can get to the Big C, Sois 6,7 & 8, and Walking St for 10 baht. Getting back will take you 2 baht buses unless you can walk the distance from the Kiss restaurant then you can get back using just one. Its only a few extra meters walk from the Areca Lodge and I don't hear any bitching about its location.

lol

mai koy bai soi LK kop.......... pom mee mai loo na kop

(I have never been to soi LK, I am clueless B) )

You are virtually in the center of pattayas best areas, and its too easy, too cheap, and fun....... a little bit noisy at times, but its central.

Absolutely correct on the baht bus routes, I have taken advantage of all directions.

renting a motorbike is not recommended for most in pattaya..........

I was having a drink with BigD and saw the most horrific solo bike accident on 2nd road, the falang bodysurfed the asphalt for 100 feet (33m) and was twisted and unconscious, with severe road rash and possible broken bones......the police stopped a baht bus, and loaded him in and hauled his mangled body away.

The bike was not too bad off.

Another one out late without his minder.

This was during the afternoon and the road was dry. Traffic was not heavy at the time. Shit happens. Have you ever noticed how few Thai drivers wear corrective glasses? I wonder how many of the are as blind as a bat with out the radar system.

Hi guys

I have just returned after having spent 1 month at The Cock and Bull and because I did not want A/C I paid just 8000 baht for 1 month. The rooms were VERY well furnished TV/Dvd/big fridge etc,and the rooms were cleaned on all but 3 days when no cleaner available.Security was no problem also and the linen was changed every day.

Like so many tourists that tend to congregate in that side of town i too am of the older age group (65) but I had no problem walking down to 2nd road for the bus every dayand the quality and veriation of food available all around you at very cheap prices is truly outstanding.Whilst acknowledging that most of my stay was in the so called "low season" I found I have not a single complaint about the entire scene.

Everyday it appears that there was a new hotel/guesthouse opening up and all priced around the 8000/9000 per month range.

Finally my thanks to Mark/Emil and Soi7 without who's reports I would probably have wasted my money at a bigger but certainly no better hotel.

the baht bus at soi buhkao and LK go to pattaya tai, then to 2nd road..........cross the street, and it goes to pattaya klang and then to bigC area, or to 1st road.

and a very few of those southbound ones once they hit the Pattaya Tai and 2nd Rd intersection will go south to Jomtien. Also a very few of the northbound ones on soi Buakaow will turn right once they hit Pattaya Klang and head towards Sukhumvit Rd.
