Anyone from Zimbabwe around?

Hey all,

 

Newbie here, I'll be in Pattaya Feb 9th for a week. Alot of great info on the boards. I used to live in Zimbabwe, working at the US embassy, back in 98 and throughout all my travels I always end up running into someone from there, in London, in Germany and here in the Middle East.

 

I'm just curious if anyone is living there from Zim.

Then again you might get a run for their cricket team.

I know...the president has destroyed that country. It was an amazing place to live in the mid-late 90's.

If they held a referendum I'm sure that the overwhelming majority would like us Brits to come back and run the country for them. The place has gone downhill since we left. The curse of Africa is tribalism, a non event if capable foreigners run the country. We're pretty tribal ourselves. I don't want someone in Viena telling me what to do. How about importing a few Mongolians to help us out? Ooops They're already there.

There's an interesting fellow that drops into the Lord Nelson in the afternoons from time to time, who comes from there....I think his name is Robert but I am not sure...his tale of how he ended up living in Pattaya is a classic, just hilarious...
