Just a quick rebutal to minor complaints about my guest house - SKYTOP PATTAYA. Firstly to the subject of room safes. As I have 8 rooms available to rent, I have 4 room safes of which can be moved room to room on request. Of course availability and priority must go to guests that are staying longer than others. I often clear out my own safe and give to guests to use when required. To the guy who complained about it taking awhile to get one to his room. I am sorry but that day I had an important meeting with my landlord to discuss many things. On return to Skytop I put a safe in the room for customer. Some people may ask - why couldnt a staff member do it, SIMPLE as staff are all females they would not be able to carry a safe up/down stairs. And as far as him not having the combination to operate the safe, all he had to do was read the instruction leaflet sitting on top of the safe. Now about the guest who complained about not being met here on his arrival to Skytop. Ok, firstly we close at 2am so on the morning he indicated he would arrive, I sat downstairs from 2am until 4.30am waiting but no arrival, no phonecall. I had previously asked him of all flight arrival details and only got - will arrive at 3am. Now his idea of when a day starts and finishes differs from mine because to me the day starts at midnight (even though it is night time). It amuses me at times when guests stay somewhere and act as if all is ok, but in reality there is something to complain about. Please if you stay here and have a complaint/suggestion please put it to me. Actually today (01March 06) I will go and buy a book and place it on front counter and you are free to write anything you want to about Skytop and I will answer you personally as to what course of action I undertake to remedy any complaints. BUT please if you have complaints about any staff member, tell me ok. Pete (owner - Skytop)

a nicer and cleaner place to stay is just down the street, its a small place called F&B, its run by a very nice couple.

the bathroom is clean and neat, and it is furnished nicely. I stayed there for a month on 1 trip, and it was just like a 2nd home.

I do not recommend anyone staying at Skytop, as it is overpriced for a backpackers style room, with a small open top bathroom, you could reach the sink to brush your teeth and take a crap at the same time.

If I remember correctly, the small bathroom was 3x5 feet ?

Hi,

Haven't stayed at your place but it seems good value for money. Some people pay small money and expect a 5 star hotel.

  • 3 weeks later...

While he makes excellent points about being abandonded etc., sitting up all night I have to ask myself about the value of a safe that can be carried up the stairs by anyone (even men) as carrying it down wil be a lot easier. I prefer the type that are more or less fastened to something vs. a portable model, aka, a box of all your stuff to be easily stolen at once.

I think it good value for the money.Yes the rooms are small but so is the price. The owner is responsive when there's a problem. Place is clean, one block from the beach and around the corner from soi 6.

I haven't seen the rooms but I too think a safe that can be moved to be about as much good as a chocolate fireguard !

I do think some expect too much for the price but I don't know why they can't muster up another couple of hundred baht and stay somewhere decent.

For the price it's more then decent and you don't have to spend a couple of hundred more for a room that's larger. Places like Sky-Top are good value for guys looking to save some money for the two weeks their there. I agree the owner should buy four more safes and bolt them down.

BTW since, I've never been to your bar, I'd never tell guys to go someplace else that's decent.
