I sure hope I don't scare any newbies from posting importance...

Try the airlines' sites, dude - they get paid for this.

Perhaps he did.......

I know I did and did not get much joy!

Some problem with people asking for information? :banana

alan,

In premium economy:

Thai's A340-500 seats 7 across in a 2-3-2 configuaration with a 42 inch seat pitch (2-4-2 and 36 in economy).

EVA's 777-300 ER seats 8 across in a 2-4-2 configuration with a 38 inch seat pitch (3-3-3 and 34 in economy).

EVA's 747 seats 8 across in a 2-4-2 configuration with a 38 inch seat pitch (3-4-3 and 34 in economy).

Tom

Don't pay attention to negative comments. This is the place to come and ask questons (even though some members just come here to whine and flame.)

I have flown the Thai JFK - BKK route twice since it started. I have never been in premium, but, looked into it on each trip. I'm going from memory here so I could be wrong:

The premium eco. have laptop power and economy does not.

I think (not sure) that the food is the same as first class so you might be getting a better meal.

The seats also "look" more comfortable as far as cushions. I have sat in one just to check it out and it felt more comfortable, but I was not in that seat for 17 hrs so I can't be sure.

I have had opportunities to purchase the upgrade on almost every flight from JFK to BKK but always had a decent aisle seat so I declined.

If they have extra seats, they often offer the upgrade for $200US each way. I have only had this offer at JFK, never at BKK. In fact I asked once at BKK and they said they could not do it from BKK, only JFK offers this.

If you are refering to the JFK to BKK direct flight, I can tell you this about it:

17 hrs direct is a blessing. I think there is less jet lag direct.

The airbus is a work of art.

The seats (eco) are not that comfortable, but, I have sat on much worse for longer.

The food is OK.

The booze is free.

The service is wonderful.

Movies/on demand TV is pretty good.

Another suggestion is to get to check-in as early as possible and politely request an "Exit seat",works for me every time, cannot be booked in advance.Plenty of leg room and on a long flight well worth the inconvenience of extra time to kill at airport. Also works on outward leg from Bangkok. :chogdee2 :chogdee2 :ang2

yes there is power in coach on the airbus340-500 and 600 series but im not sure but could be confind to window and aisle seat and not in the middle.

I think premium economy is a business class seat (lieflat???) but with economy sservice. I flew last week akl-bkk in business and on exit premium economy was completly empty.i wonder if they bumped 1 or 2 pax that paid up to business.

Funny, I could not find the power, but didn't really end up using my laptop on the plane much so I never asked.

I will have to ask next time I fly Thai. Unfortunately my next flight is a freebie on UA...Business class!!!!!yippeee

Must agree Floyd when I flew Apr/May on same flight as you (989) the premium cabin was completely empty both ways, however in fairness cattle class was also sparcely populated both ways, good for us but makes one wonder how much longer Thai will persevere if it is constantly a losing route.

Btw was it you I saw in 2 photos on the recent FLB bar crawl to Ban Chang?? <grin

have 1 rt prem economy on thai done

bigger seat than economy

compared to biz class which has a great reclining bed, it was not a big deal

i have 15 or so rt in economy, 10 on thai, the others on china and eva

if i could not afford the prem or biz class ( i am lucky cuz i can write it off )

i would fly economy and get an exit row and a sleeeping pill
