Banks with internet banking

Recommended Posts

I am planning on opening a bank account in Pattaya next week. The primary reason for this is to transfer my spending funds to it before I head to LOS. I know that there are many threads recommending different banks but very few mention internet banking facilities. Is internet banking the norm in Thailand? Can anyone recommend a good bank with good internet banking facilities?

I am using K-Cyberbanking of Kasikornbank.

They send you a One-Time-Password to your mobile phone every time you want to make a transfer, change user data etc.

I would not use any internet banking that relies only on fixed passwords.

Bangkok Bank and Siam Commercial both offer online banking but generally not for people on holiday stamps (getting the account is easier). You'll need an address and a letter from immigration to get the internet banking for sure, though sometimes they don't ask for it.

I am very happy with K-Bank.

The one-time PW is very good and it expires after 6 minutes.

I have also used the system over a landline from Canada after extensive vetting by K-Bank that I was who I said I was.

Good English speakers on their end, too.

I have heard both of these banks have good online banking systems. AND I believe, more importantly, they are the only two really reputable Thai banks.

I'm with Bangkok Bank (though I haven't used their online banking yet) but would probably be equally happy with Siam Commercial.

My experience is very limited, but at the moment I would not trust my money with any other Thai bank. I've heard at other banks when money gets "lost" it doesn't get chased up :D

scumbag, just a word of warning on aussie banks and sending money. I transferred $9,000 oz dollars via internet using ANZbank to my Kasikornbank account. The rate was 25.8 baht to the $. When I got here I changed $200 at Bangkok Bank to deposit in my friends TG account, the rate was 27.4 My ANZ transfer cost me $500 lost dollars and they also charged me $22 for the transfer as well. Friends here reckon you should send the money over as $A and get it changed to baht here, a much better rate
