Can I suggest giving BGs an incentive to bring you customers? Say a 10b kickback every time a farrang buys something - a bit like a Lady Drink. Their mercenary little hearts (bless them) could be your best allies.

Hi everybody,

thanks for everybodys help and advice.Really appreciated. The bad news is i think i have upset some people already. The girlfriend had agreed with the owner that we could sell ice cream.Last night i was at the shop getting everything ready. The Thai owner came over and asked what i was going to so with the unit.I explained ice cream. He said basically i can not do any food or drink,or what anybody else is already doing.Little bit angry at first. But as everybody knows this is Thailand. So i am now going to do real estate. Its the only thing i can think of that nobody else is doing there.I will keep you posted when i have some more information.

Thanks.

Paul.

real estate.....ok 1 deal a month will keep you afloat.....however i know 1 friend of mine that owned a "major" real estate business in Pattaya. Heavily advertised and high profile and at the end of the day he packed the whole lot in as unprofitable.

Be warned

The thai's have everything sewed up in this town and whilst there is money to be made....it is in small amounts and long hours.

Going back to your home country and working for 1 month will get you the same money as working 6 months on thai money

Maybe you should have your girl talk to the man that was doing the complaining. Maybe they could strike a bargain. The ice cream sounded really good, I was actually looking forward to some of it when I get there the end of Oct.....Cheers and good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Soi unwise...that's very unfair. I know this guy and he's nothing if not genuine. He DOES have experience in real estate in LOS, and is trying to make the most of the situation he was left in with a small shop he took on for his TG.

So what is your girlfriend going to do with the 'mini skirt'? :clap1

Seriously though, we (my UK based company) are currently working on a new property marketing website at Thailand Property Market specifically aimed at smaller agencies who don't want the expense of having their own website. Not quite finished as yet, but not too far away from launch.

Let me know if you are interested.

He has experience in real estate and STILL buys a rabbitt hutch with no idea what it's for ??? :clueless

When I need a property I will pass on his services I think.

Theres no stopping him. I think hes been reading a Tony Robbins book  Hes building a Thaiempire like his boardname.. I would have given the Thai landlord the key back for not being clear at the outset.

Good luck. I will check you out if I buy/sell/rent.

I would expect he had already laid a substantial deposit down, and with a Thai man the chances of a refund are zero. I think our little Bill Gates needs to adopt a lower profile, farangs 'working' draws attention...got a work permit, got a sponsor? I still admire his enthusiasm,

I thought 'food' was not an option to the owner? Any space for a microwave? A nice pie or pasty after a few beers is always nice. There is a lady does this on Beach rd near Soi 7, although she is a bit mean with the microwave timer. Good luck :allright
