How safe is Bangkok at nite?

Recommended Posts

It's fine. Just use your common sense and don't go into dark alleys etc. in the dark, just stick to the busier tourist areas. The skytrain stops at 11 or 12, I can't remember which and will be busy right up until it stops running so no problems there.

Ive always found it safer than the uk. The skytrain is a lot safer than uk tube stations or railway stations. But if you walk about with loads of jewellery and a big fat wallet sticking out your back pocket in any city worldwide, you are at risk of robbery. Im sure you dont.

Don't get overdrunk & stay away from ladyboys. Also we've heard of police trying to fine newbies for smoking in public & throwing off cigi butts, recently. If you are a non-smoker then it does n't apply to u

Dont argue with the thais and if u happen to be in any uneasy situation, just move on from there. Also to repeat, just dont flash your money out in public. Carry a photocopy of your passport & travel documents, just in case (not your originals).

U'll feel easy, then. Enjoy your stay.

BIB got me last month outside Marriot Hotel for putting cig butt out on pavement. Told me 2000bht fine ! i said only had 1,000bht so they accepted and said NO receipt. Nice little earner !

Ouch. I thought it was only usually 200 baht. I dont smoke, but I wont be dropping any litter, even though they dont have any litter bins. The police probably hide them :clap1

As world cities go, Bangkok is near the top of "All Time Safest".

This doesn't mean you can leave your brain at home. It means there is ALMOST no chance you will be physically attacked, and an equally small chance you will be ripped off in a random crime.

"Almost none" does not mean "none".

English translation:

I broke the law in Thailand and I got caught. In my country I just throw things on the ground when I feel like it and why can't the Thais realise this and do it my way?

I feel safer walking around Bangkok at night than I do in Los Angeles in the day time. Yes, I know that's not saying much, with over 20,000 known gang members in LA, but you get the point.

Staying safe in Bangkok is simple: don't do something stupid, don't behave like an ass, and when in doubt, err on the side of caution. No different than any other major city in the world in that regard.

Joe "The Paedophile" Canadian, caught last week has appealed to his country to "just get me out of here". heh

heh-heh.

heehehehehehehe

bwooohahahahahahahahahaha

Apparently he doesn't appreciate the accommodations, and he is too thick to realise how lucky he is to have avoided a nasty fall down steep stairs shortly after his arrest like many Thai paedos suffer.

OK, that was off-topic but it made me feel better. "Sillypore" I liked that too. But yes, I didn't chew gum there. Up to them.

I don't think there is much chance of you getting involved in any serious violence apart from pissed off bar girls throwing a wobbly. The main problem in Bangkok is scams of some sort. People stop you in the street and ask you to pick a ticket for some promotion or other then tell you you have won a prize. "You are lucky man. We so happy. Pick another one". You win a weeks free stay in a top hotel. Only problem is you have to go to the hotel to claim your prize and it turns out you book for three weeks and get one week "free". The same scam goes on all over the world. If you are approached, just smile and keep walking.

The other famous one is when asked "Where you go?" Say you are going to the Snake Farm. "It is closed today." They then try to get you to take a tour with them which will mean to a gem shop or some other clip joint. Don't trust anybody you don't know.

With a bit of common sense you will not have any trouble. Even on Sukhumvit at 4.00am you are safer than back home probably, and the scenery is better!

bangkok is relatively safe at night.respect the people be gracious and swear loyalty to the king, dont argue with anyone or you will deal with a large group of men who will practice muay thai with you, dont get into arguments with bargirls and say no to everone on the street that hassles you, oh and do it all with a smile on your face.one last thing if your found at 2 in the morning really drunk be prepared to be carried off somewhere and get attended too by katoeys. :grin-jump

A friend's cousin was found unconscious somewhere in Bangkok a number of years ago. Some Thais arranged for him to be taken to hospital, thinking that he had been assaulted (he has been mugged two or three times). This wasn't one of those times though. He had simply passed out due to an excessive consumption of alcohol.

Despite a number of visits to Thailand, he does everything you should not do - particularly getting blind drunk.

So long as you don't follow this wanker's example, you should be fine.

Alan
