Air France/KLM or Finnair?

Recommended Posts

I agree SAS are charging silly money at this time!!

In the past few months I flown both KLM and Air France

back in June flew Aberdeen - Amsterdam - Bangkok and of course the return, KLM both ways, can't fault the airline or Amsterdam airport in any way, also lands in BKK just after midday, which is great. I would say though that the 747 was disappointing, with only small overhead tv screens for entertainment, some of which can be a fair bit away, depending on your seat. Overall though I've been very satisfied with KLM

Last month I flew same route KLM but returned BKK - Paris CDG - Aberdeen on Air France, the Airbus plane is great with plenty entertainment - own tv on back seats etc, wider choice of movies etc. A downside was the plane arrives from Vietnam in BKK prior to heading onto Paris, so you are boarding an already hot and sweaty plane - not my idea fun. I also thought the staff on the plane and on the ground - especially - in Paris were awful, and don't get me started on Paris CDG airport, this is a travellers worst nightmare, what an awful place!! I vowed never to travel through there again if I can help it - avoid CDG at all cost!!

I find it surprising that as both KLM/Air France are the same company that both service and price can be so different between the two.

My advice KLM all the time!!

I have flown All 3 however Finnair was not to BKK but to Japan. I love Amsterdam Airport it is one terminal and is so cool Helsinki is also a nice airport small but easy access to everything. As for CDG forget it its a nightmare.

So

1st KLM

2nd AY

3rd AF

I flew KLM Newcastle- Amsterdam - Bangkok last year....... and I won't fly with them again. The plane used is a 747 combi (the rear half of the plane is cargo) and as a single passenger I was dumped in the worst possible seats. The IFE was crap overhead rather than seat beck, so no personal choice.

Flew Air France to China, and I would fly Air France again, but CDG is a nightmare for connecting flights.

I am sticking with Emirates from now on!

Yes KLM will connect you to China Airlines through Schiphol.

Emirates may be a fair alternative, but Dubai was awful when I last transited there. Also the extra flying time needs to be considered....I keep hoping for some direct carrier from Manchester-Bangkok!

Flew with Emirates a month ago, the new Newcastle-Bangkok route, the only thing with Dubai was the bus from the plane to the terminal then getting through security to get inside, will probably fly with them again when i go to book my christmas flight up today.

Last month I flew Bangkok - Amsterdam - Edinburgh and the KLM flight between Bangkok and Amsterdam originates in Taipei. At least the flight to Bangkok later flew on to Taipei. So, sorry, but don't see the difference here between Air France and KLM. I treated myself to a business class flight in both directions so had my oen personal tv.

I will shortly be booking another flight back, but first need to get my accommodation confirmed. However, the KLM web-site does not give me the chance of flying to Amsterdam on the 14.25 service from Edinburgh so I am going to have to phone KLM beforehand. :banghead
