cheapest flight mid april for 4 months

Recommended Posts

Hi , I am looking for the cheapest flight for any time after the 21st april to the end of aug or the first few days in

sept,Have any of you guys out there any ideas how to get the best prices.I normally get good prices just by waiting to near the time I want to go and looking hard but, is this the best strategy, all ideas welcome.

PS I don't want to fly Aeroflot or some crap airline that has no decent On board entertainment, and Gatwick and Heathrow are best for me.

Try the search engines at lastminute.com and travelocity.co.uk, put your dates in and tick the "my dates are flexible box". this will give a good idea of availability and prices.

When you have found a date and price you like then go to westeasttravel.co.uk and you will find they may be a few quid cheaper and they will price match or undercut anyone elses prices so they say on the website.

Good luck

Hi Thanks for the reply ,but, I already do that ,and more ,what I was really asking was is it better to book early or leave it till late to get the best rates .I was hoping that some of the well informed members may know which is the best strategy.I only fly once a year so frequent flier miles don't work for me I always go for the lowest priced fare with a decent airline. So do I book now at the lowest price on offer (Emirates £482)or hold off until nearer the time.

It is hard to predict last minute bargain availability, so I would recommend booking between now and a minimum of 1-2 months before travel. With the oil prices likely to go higher, and the possible implementation of stupid 'green' taxes now may be the best! Lowest prices are normally obtained by avoiding peak times (Easter for your example), and weekend travel. If you use a Middle Eastern airline, weekend from your transit point, would be Thursday/Friday.

Beware of transiting in Western Europe, as obligatory airport taxes/ charges can add up.

The way the yield management system works on the reservations systems your problem is going to be getting a return seat in the cheapest booking class rather than the outbound flight.

Have you flown Emirates from London before?

Although not in April, this may provide some help. My mate has just booked a 6month ticket with EVA Air (Direct flight from Heathrow), departing/returning Nov - May and paid £585 through WestEast Travel. The normal fair, say for a 2 week trip would have been £485, so they seem to add a further £100 on to the ticket in order to give a long stay option. The return date is flexible, in that there is no charge for amending teh return date.

You have a cheap deal on offer with Emirates, which looks good, but try www.westeasttravel.co.uk just as a comparison.

Re Emirates flights and this is from very recent experience on price checking,I have found that ThomasCook quite often come in about twenty of thirty quid cheaper on Emirates flights than WestEast but are always more expensive for the likes of Thaiairways or Eva.

Recent example Dec 7 flight £572 on most consolidators but same flight £550 with Thomas cook.

Also Emirates own web site quite often matches or beats the consolidator price.
