American TV online

OK, I admit it, I'm a couch potato

And one of the things I thought that I'd miss while on my 5 month stay in LOS was all of my favorite TV shows. That was till I ran across this site:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/cat/television.html

I know that a lot of you guys use torrents to get some of your programing but I thought I'd toss this on the board for anyone who is interested.

Note: I STRONGLY recommend the show called Dexter. It may be the best show I've ever come across.

Just a quick look but I have never seen anything like Shilo's find. Excellent, excellent recommendation. I tested on an obscure show I like and it came through gangbusters.

I still don't like watching TV on my computer, but I'm squirreling away this fine URL for emergencies. Thanks Shilo.

p.s. the geeks who run this site have the arrogant "I use Firefox, you peasant" mentality. If they think lamely and wrongly that you are using MS browser, you have to enter a code to make their site work. hahaha very in joke the problem being they can't even identify that you are NOT using Microsoft IE, like most such idiots trying to force you to use their sainted Firefox.

It's okay. They run a good website. Everyone is stupid in some ways.

A little extra info:

Once you choose a program you like, look on the right side for a list of the sources. There are generally 3 or 4 to choose from. I like Megavideo the best. Also, once you start the loading, look beneath the video for a link to a "resizable screen". It'll give you a pop-up can be watched in full screen.

Enjoy

Also did the 5 months stay, unemployment pay is 6 months, you do the math... :D

Missed the channel surfing with about only 3 english speaking tv channels.

Missed going to the movies, Thai had D-rated selections, so I settled with pirated DVD movies, some so badly prepared, I could the crunching of popcorn. Had some explaining to do, when the immigration officer at US was going through my luggage. :bj2

To be honest, what I really missed was watching US broadcast sports channels. It seemed that the ESPN in Thailand was all about soccer, which I could never get into, because I took naps in between goals being scored, if any. :gulp

ok joe kicker, you dont need to watch on your computer screen.

get a tv converter box from tuk com (around the 1000baht mark) and this will take a video out from your computer and convert it to a video/audio av signal so you can pipe it straight to your tv.

OR

The system im using just now is a divX standalone hard disk player (1500baht frm tuk com). This tiny tiny box contains a normal laptop hard disk and has a player software integrated. I just downlaod from bittorrent sites (uk nova being great for uk programs) transfer the files onto this tiny box and then plug it into the TV. Its FULL DVD type quality and has a remote control so you can sit back and browse thru all the shows you have loaded.

Also some time ago i recommended a service called TVUKLIVE ,which i used extensively. The service was excellent but cost you $45 per month for 20 odd british channels. I should point out they have know ceased trading as it seemed their service was illegal!!!!!!!!

p.s can anyone give me a rundown on how to fake my IP address?
