I am looking for a house or apartment to rent in or near Pattaya, ideally 3 bedrooms, monthly rent c. 10,000 to 15,000 baht range. Dark Side seems to be the most likely area to find this. Anyone have any ideas or know of any specific opportunities?

I was looking for a house in your price range last December and found that the new developments have MANY homes for rent in your price range. Rent a car and local driver and go for a drive. I can recommend the women who mans the taxi stand at Sky-Top guesthouse for a driver.

If you want to pay THB 15 000 in Notrh Pattaya for a decent house at present you are paying too much.

Why do you say that, I know someone who pays 50K on the dark side, but it is palatial. I pay 15K and think that is reasonable. If you want to live in one of those grotty looking townhouses, sure, you can pay less.

Many thanks to all of you for your useful replies. At the end of the day, crab did what crab so often does: scrapped his budget in favour of what he really liked or wanted.

 

So next week I move into View Talay 2, not because I love VT2 but because I was offered an excellent apartment at a reasonable price, and it gives me the space ad facilities I want.

 

So, very soon I shall be local. Hope to meet some of you.

Three bedrooms is too much for Thailand. I have Thai tastes. Anything more than a studio I could care less for. All the better because I'd rather spend my money on other stuff.

I'd like to have the option if the price is significantly reduced. I'm looking to spend about 3 weeks in mid Oct. Are there any similar sites to the one listed above that rent for shorter stays?

Many of the private rentals are for 6 month minimum term, however there are places available on short term lets, but not so many at the budget being quoted.

 

If however, you are looking for an alternative to a hotel and looking for serviced accomodation, then there are some lovely places in the 25k - 40k per month budget.

Some hotels give significant discounts for stays of 3 weeks, especially during low season. You need to deal with the manager as the front desk clerks don't have the power to negotiate rates. Also some hotels have monthly rates, the last 2 that I stayed in the monthly rate was 10 times the daily rate. Usually the monthly rate does not include water and electricity and housekeeping may only be weekly or bi monthly.
