Secrets Hotel on Soi16 and Hotel Ibis Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? If so, how far are they from Walking Street and what were your experiences? I usually stay at the Moonlight Serviced Apartments but am looking for something new for my next trip. Any information would be appreciated.

I checked out the exterior of Hotel Ibis before it opened. A friend asked me to scout the location. It's pretty far north -- a bit past Big C on Second Road. If you're primarily hanging out on Walking Street, the baht bus ride is a bit long. It's a more convenient choice if you like the Second Road beer bars from Soi 4 to Soi 1 and/or you frequent Soi 6.

I've stayed at Secrets twice and I was a happy camper both times. No pool and no elevator and some seriously steep steps. If you can deal with that you'll like the place. Less than 30 seconds from the hotel door to the start of Walking Street. Soi 14 is the first soi as you enter Walking Street from Beach Road.

Not exactly sure about the address of Moonlight, but I believe it's near Soi 16. I think it's a good deal for the price. Only 650 baht per night and free wireless. I ate a few times at the restaurant downstairs and the food was good. Rooms are spacious and the property is new and modern. No pool, but it's not a big deal for me. As for distance to Walking Street, I can walk there in about 15 minutes, but I usually rent motorbike. I like it because it's new and cheap. I was just looking for another new property and wanted to know about Hotel Ibis.

Hey MC,

How far is Hotel Ibis from Big C? I usually rent a motorbike while there, so how far from Walking Street with bike? I do go to the beer bars occasionally, but usually go to walking street and nightclubs.

It's located on what was once called Soi 0 near 2nd Rd. Directly to the west near Beach Rd a new high storey hotel is still under construction, been told its a Holiday property.

I have stayed at Secrets on two occasions and can recommend the hotel. As previously stated it has steep stairs and no lift so not suitable for people with disabilities however that aside the rooms are great for the price, food in bar excellent and the girls gorgeous. A ten second walk to Walking St down Soi 14.
