Water & Leccy Bills

Recommended Posts

Guys,

bit of boring one i know, ( i have searched as well ), but can any of the ex-pats out there tell me what the average monthy bills are for the above. I know its all dependant on usage, i`m doing a solo trip for a couple of months, managed to get a room @ Typhoon Place - 9000 baht a month, 5000 baht deposit for water & eleccy, just tryin to work out my budget...

Thanks

A lot of what you pay for electricity is dependent upon what the property owner charges you per unit (KwH).

This was addressed a couple months ago on this thread.

Since I don’t live in Pats, I’m not sure how much you’ll pay, in Khon Kaen I pay about 3 baht / KwH or about 1000 baht per month directly to the electric co. for our house.

I haven’t had to pay a water bill in the last three month based on the governments relief effort, houses (and maybe condos with individual water meters?) using less than 50K cu. Liters of water have bee exempted from paying for water through the end of the year in Khon Kaen. Before that I averaged about 150 baht per month for water.

If you put down a 5000bht deposit and stay for 2 months even using the air con most of the time you would still expect to get a reasonable share of your deposit back. I would say at least 1000bht.

Obviously this depends alot on the size of room or rooms you have and the energy efficiency of the air con units.

Only other thing to be aware of is some of theses rental bump up the standard utility charges so that they make a profit out of you as well.

I stayed in a similar size room . my bill for electric and water was no more than1500baht,A month, That depends on wether you have your aircon on all night, Up to you , Just ask one or two people that stay in the rooms next to you . That will give you a more accurate reading for you.. hope this helps

If your landlord pays the electric and water, he will charge you what you agreed, if you're careful to check.

If YOU pay the bill, a very, very rough guide for someone living full time in an apartment/house might be:

1,000 baht for all electricity - lights, fridge, computer and so on

1,200-1,500 baht a month for 8-10 hours of air con per day - your bedroom at night, your office in the day, etc

VERY rough. Huge variables of course.

Water is almost nothing unless you run a car wash or a nursery - NEVER close to 100 baht for a normal person for showers, clean-up and so on (less for French of course).

We pay on average about 700 baht a month on electric. But we don't use air con at all, just fans when it gets really hot.

Water as everybody says has been free for the last few months, think this stops in January. Still not expensive at about 200 baht a month tops.

This is for our house in Nakhon Phanom, think the charges are the same per unit throughout the country from the electric company.
