Not sure I've got the experience required in your budget bracket, I've stayed in the Ruen Thai Cottages at Sabai Lodge at about 2500THB per night but whilst very nice I'm not sure they have wow factor you're looking for.

From spending to much time reading these boards you could try the following:

Marriott

LK Metropole (or other LK Group hotels)

One I like the look of is Discovery Beach on Beach Road but it is not girl friendly if this is important.

Anyone tried August Suites or LK Royal?

August Suites ......... Non-registered Guest or Joiner Policy

A joiner charge @ 500 baht will be charged per person per night.

Enough said.

Hope you get more info on this, I'll probably end up a Cheap Charley in Issan, but in Patts i like to be comfortable.

Marriott was ok but not as good as Bkk Waterside. My current pick is the LK Rennaisance on Diana.

What you may be looking for is a condo / villa in Jomtien with a private pool. Not sure about your budget though.

Nirvana

Four Seasons Place

All Seasons Hotel

Any info much appreciated.

All Seasons had a joiner fee last I heard.

I stayed at Siam Bayshore once and it was not guest friendly nor would I put it in the luxury category, rooms were very basic. I believe the joiner fee was 1000Baht and they seem to intentionally make it uncomfortable when checking in a guest.

Agreed. It's a nice enough hotel even if the room sizes belong back in the 80s but to recommend it on a mongers board without mentioning the joiner/guest hassles is pretty bad advice.

Surry, Sabai Resort looks really good i have avoided because i get in late and hit WS/ Diana.

How are he bars on Sio 2/3 late? 0100 -0300 Now i am to lazy to change hotels mid trip

The BLT at the Beer Garden is my breakfast even when the hotel throws in a free one. Long haul from the S abai complex

Bill, hav'nt been back to los for 12 months (still recovering from double hernia op )but when i staggered back to hotel last feb 3/4 am bars opposite &soi 2/3 still open  .No trouble getting to walking st,wait at the top of soi 2 & the baht buses come down and sweep round to walking st.Plenty of places to eat at big C.Sabai resort is a great place to chill out, quietest hotel in los i've stayed in all the rooms on ground level.Im back in pattaya mid may time & thinking of trying out the pattaya bay resort ? can you recommend the LK rennaisance ? i was very disapointed with their website, but love the soi diana area.

Bill if you are thinking of booking sabai resort.contact them directly and ask if they are prepared to give you a discount (they usually do ) also 3 nice pools ...roll on may

Surry, met you on my first trip, remember you were with a looker in the RSB2 on WS. Might explain your medical problem. Really hope you are on the mend. Yes , try the LKR,i dont know why the website sucks as it does, many complaints. If you book get a confirmation to your personal email. On site service is great.

I was staying at Rg last trip but had a falling out with the TGF. Wandered into the LKR at 0500, quite drunk. They just handed me a key, no cc,no passport since it was on file i guess. But good location as you know.

I like variety so may try Sabai next trip. Thanks for the info. Bill

Check out www.agoda.com, I just booked the Versace suite at the LK Royal Suites for $54.USD a night. If that doesn't get your WOW factor (for the price range you listed) I don't know what will. Located on Soi Bua Khao (spelling?).

Nearer 64 USD with the taxes but still good value judging by the pics of the rooms.
