Hi,

The League starts this week even though the tranfer window remains open till end of the month. I wont have a bet until the end of the transfer window as some new players can still come in. Newcastle are no longer in so I've added Sunderland to the poll in their place. Three of the Big 4 seem to have lost some of their best players and money seems tight in these credit crunch days. Standing still may be the new going forward and in that respect Chelsea seem strongest. Man City are the only team who appear to have real money to spend and it will be interesting to see how they do. Enjoy the footbal and may the best team win. BTW Brentford were 50/1 for League 1 a while ago and are now half those odds so somebody has backed them.

For me, Liverpool should win it, i would have been more confident if they had not sold Alonso, but they should have enough this eason to claim the title.

Best bets are with Paddy Power, they offer trebles on the relegation places, for me, Pompey, Hull & Burnley at 40-1 is a cracking bet.

I don't care how much you nonce it all up Wacky, there will only be 1 of the usual 4 who will win. :cry2

Unless swine flu starts affecting rich, healthy, footballers, or failing that, a restriction of foreign players to 5 per team, the rich will get the pleasure and the poor will get bugger all. :devil

It would be interesting to see how a lower division manager would do ,if given the 'war chest' of the Premiership to play with.

Seen a few games Manchester has played all ready ,looking very good ,even if loosing twice on penalaties

Seen Liverpool play pre season ,not looking on fire yet .

Sure Chelsea will be there .

Man City ,think will take time for all players to gel together

Hi,

I think the managers main job now seems to be keeping all the players on side. See what happened Scolari last year at Chelsea. If they wont play for you .....

Hi,

I picked them on here last year. A combination of draws and the men in black bailing out Utd done for them in the end.

Man U. The fact they havent spent any money is ominous. If Sir Al thinks his team is good enough already, who is anyone to argue. Michael Owen might be the best signing in the Premiership He must be hugely motivated as his trophy cabinet must be pretty bare despite being a world class striker and household name. I think age will catch with Chelsea. Too many old players, and to be brutal, nearly men/ also rans. You would have to say they wont win the champions league. Arsenal havent got the bottle to win, and Liverpool had their best season it 20 years and are unlikely to repeat it and rely too much on Gerrard and Torres. Gerrard must be getting on in years and Carragher.

Hi,

Think it is finance rather than desire in that matter. Even with Ronaldo last season their record against the other Big 3 was poor. Your comments about Liverpool could be valid but Ancellotti has had great success with ageing players in Milan so maybe he can replicate that at Chelsea ?

But they got the 80 million cash up front for Ronaldo. I think they may be better without him and play more as a team. They won it while not really on form last season. If they hit form the others have no chance.

I think Chelsea could have another season left in them. Ive not seen much Italian football since they stopped that channel4 show. Is it not a lot less physical than the premiership and oldsters  can get away with playing longer and have spent all their days in that league?

I don't thing Sir Alf thinks that in the slightest, he was taught that lesson in the European Cup.....

I think he wants another of those...

Either the purse strings have been tightened, or see a good signing soon from him soon.

MU were nearly caught last season, and Liverpool showed bottle... time for a change, Liverpool.

That was a really off night for Man U. Ive never seen them pass the ball so poorly. The remaining team will be wanting to show that their previous few years of success wasnt just down to Ronaldo. Man U have a good few talented youngsters.

Are you saying Liverpool? :thumbup :cry2

Hi,

Liverpool drew a lot of games. Don't forget the men in black gave Man Utd some game changing decisions as the season came to a climax. Fact.

I used to watch a lot of Italian Serie A football, when I was still living in Australia, which was shown on Australian SBS free to air on Sundays. The Italians are very professional but their football is not as entertaining to watch as English Premier League football and often very boring.

I also watch Bundesliga football when in Pattaya, which is very entertaining, but probably not quite of the same high standard as Spanish and English football. England is lagging behind with its National team to Spain, Germany, Holland and Italy. It will be interesting to see what they can achieve next year at the World Cup.

Now, back to the topic. I will place a bet on Liverpool with my Man U supporter mate, to win the Premiership, depending on what odds he will give me. :ang2 Like someone said, they gave Man U a good run for the money and will do so again.

For the first 10 minutes, I though MU have got this. Then they just seemed to slow up and be overwhelmed.

True on the youngsters, but I see a hole where Ronaldo was.

I keep thinking more of Benitez than he perhaps deserves!

You cant argue with the winners. Decisions even out over a season. To decry a premiership winner lessens competition, imho.

Hi,

Harry Redknapp is a shrewd operator and he has spent lots of Spurs money this year. They must have a chance of Top 4 finish after playing so well against Liverpool ?

Phil Brown was considered a 'shrewd operator' this time - and for quite a bit later - last year. Seeing how he bulldozed so many London clubs early on.

I can honestly see Harry doing an equivalent to PB's on-pitch Tourette's wobbly fit this season, in some shape or form.

That's enough reason for me why Spurs wont make top4.

Im still numb from how, in the space of 3 months, Spain and Italy have bagged virtually ALL the high profile on-form transfers.

12 days left to see any EPL teams can stir up any last minute interest & surprises.

Disclaimer:

I still stand by the above even if Spurs manage a win/draw against Hull today .....

How about a sound and thorough thrashing ?

Man.U losing to Burnley ? Laugh- I nearly bought my own beer !

Yes, dare we hope MU will not dominate this season?

Don't hold your breath though eh, they often start a bit sloppy and seem to be lacking the scoring finish.... they even missed Ronaldo for the penalty!

Spurs at the top.....

Spurs at the top.....

Still standing by a non top4 finish for those in WHL come May.

Defoe has a knack of conjuring up some great injuries for Harry whenever they're both paired together. This season shouldn't be any different.

Hope Harry won't resort to bringing on his wife as a late sub in the latter part of the season

Not withstanding that Ronaldo missed the start of last season, they sure relied on him once he returned.

Saying that, Fergie's probably missing Vidic & Ferdinand more at the moment.

They will bounce back, start of the season splutters are their usual modus operandi.

Retaining the EPL though? I hope not.

Basically Man.U. are like Villayouth- they tend come from behind ! :banghead

As for Spain and Italy bagging all the top boys. The players are just going back to where most come from. More room for young British players to establish themselves in the E.P. :banghead

Could be good for the England squad- with Harry as the Gaffer. :banghead
