UK Air Passenger Duty

I've seen mention of this but not the actual rates. Here are the details for anyone who wants them, they're cut from a pdf file, so apologies for the format.

One thing to remember is that they only apply to the flight that leaves the UK, not to the final destination. So UK-Amsterdam-Bangkok in economy = £11, but UK-Singapore-Bangkok = £55.

And it's supposed to be an environmental tax.

Seems dumb doesn't it.

Certainly won't do British Airways any favours.

I didn't need any incentive to avoid Heathrow and go via Amsterdam... but having the price of going via the Middle East increase is bad.

It seems this will play right into the hands of the middle eastern companies as there is only a £5 increase on economy. The long haul carriers are surely going to have to up there game to attract customers now.
