One consideration for me is an in room safe. I showed up at 0100 at the Eastiny on Soi8 near second road.

Was told no in room safe, and the reception safes were not available a night -no keys. I had

USD, Baht, TC , Thai bank book, atm card and US and Thai phones, all of which i could carry with me or leave in the room.

I told the desk i'll find another hotel for the night and of course a key was found.

If i stay in the area again The Eastiny on Soi 7 looks good. They have a pretty good websit for comparisons.

I stayed at the Eastiny 7 on Soi 7 last July. It was fine and I paid less than 1000B per night for a superior room booked thru Agoda.com

If you just showed up at the desk you could probably get cheaper rates as I'm betting it's just about as empty as it was in July.

The room was fine, bathroom decent, water pressure and aircon good as well. My room did have a safe.

I found the tiny restaurant virtually worthless but although the swimming pool was small it was clean and refreshing. Drinks from their pool bar are a good price as well.

I was on the 5th floor with my balcony facing Central Road and I was never bothered by any noise from Soi 7.

My problem with Soi 7 was the pool. Not very good. The best pool is in the old Eastiny on Soi 8 next to the Sunshine but this hotel is always a bit pricier. I thought about using the new one on Soi 8 but the Cherry Bar almost looks in the front door and that is a no no!
