Getting To Loei

Recommended Posts

Hello folks, I am looking to go up to Loei for a few days to see a mate of mine. I went up there about 3 years ago, flying with Nok Air for less than 1000 baht from Bangkok.

It appears they have dropped the flights now, and I really cannot sit on a bus for 10 hours or whatever it is, so does anyone know of an alternative?

Maybe another airline or maybe I could fly into another airport and get a shortr bus trip to Loei.

Any help is appreciated.

Fly to Udorn or to Khon Kaen and drive from there.

Joe you beat me to the punch.

Least expensive should be Air Asia to Udon Thani and bus to Loei.

You could also try Khon Kaen but Thai Air is pricey compared to the budget airlines that serve Udon (Air Asia and Nok Air).

Air Asia: http://www.airasia.com/site/en/home.jsp

Nok Air: http://www.nokair.com/nokconnext/aspx/welcome.aspx?currlang=en-US

Thai Air: http://www.thaiair.com/

Thanks Joe and Bill for the quick replies. Looks like the way forward. Fly to Udon and then the bus it is. Dont suppose you know how often buses go from Udon to Loei or if there is an online timetable ?

I would avoid the way I did it.....by bus from Nong-Khai.

Rather a decrepid little bus that followed the river for a while.

Quite an adventure!

I have driven from Chonburi to Loei 3 or 4 times. It's not a bad drive as long as it's not the day before Songkran starts....DOH! Never again! We took my truck and spent 1 - 1.5k on fuel. This was with 4 adults and 2 children. Deffo if more people are going it's more economical to drive the whole way.
