I've got Thai Air miles to give away

Recommended Posts

I just got the first statement I've ever received from Thai Aiways today in the mail.

It is telling me that my 31,768 miles are expiring at the end of this year.

Since Thai stopped flying out of New York I haven't had a good reason to try and use them so the miles have just been sitting there year after year.

I had no idea that they were expiring at the end of this year.

Is there a way I can transfer them to anyone who might be able to use them?

You can use the miles for a R/T ticket on another Start carrier (United) to the west coast for your next trip or...

Find a cheap flight in the neighborhood on any Star Alliance member between now & Dec. 31. Go somewhere nice for lunch... :wanker

United has cheapo deals through next weekend by the way.

SCRAP the first idea... Just checked - 70,000 miles for a trip within the US - Fooking Rort the Thai miles !

Good luck.

I'm not all that familiar with all the reward programs (I've only recently started booking with Star Alliance carriers)

You might want to post something here

I found the link below on that forum that let me convert some AA miles before I lost them.

Thai resently changed their "Flight mile" service. Now you can decide on a ticket, use your "flight miles" as payment and "bye# the rest of the missing miles or you can use your colected miles to upgrade your ticket, for hotel nights etc. All card members should get a little booklet helping figuring out how to use the "free miles", together with the "free miles" statement.

LBJ,

The best thing to do is purchase hotel nights with the miles. You get issued with certificates which are then valid for a further year.

I knew you were smart. :D I did exactly that last night after I finally got on the Thai website looking for options.

Problem solved.
