I was told the new hotel is opening January 15th.. I just booked there for early Feb, starting rates for rooms are 1990.

Thats a lot of money. I wonder what we will get for that sort of cash.

Will the standard rooms be available still at the previous standard rate?

Hi rascal. Heres the latest from Areca. The rooms are more expensive for the first two weeks in Feb following the grand opening and then come down to these.

Still not found them on any hotel listing sit IDO24, Agodo etc

Superior room is 1,400.-baht/room/night

Super deluxe room is 1,700.-baht/room/night

Luxury room is 2,300.-baht/room/night

**Superior room is the room with out balcony***

Thanks for the update Andy. It seems that the standard rooms in the new block works out just 200b per night more than the old blocks. Not bad for brand new acomodation. I have just looked at the swimming pool in your pic. Is that a new pool as well? This will make 3 pools at the Areca if so. Some 5* hotels don't boast three pools.

Some pics of my old room in the corona suite to be found here. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42628

Please ignore the naked pictures of my g/f on the bed and pay attention to the inside decor of the rooms.

The pool has been there for years and will be shared by the Corona wing and the Evergreen wing. It looks like the Evergreen will be run as a seperate concern, it has it's own access road and lobby etc.

I clicked you link but unfortunately never got by the picture of your GF in the bath 555

I had a chance to walk thru it a few days ago and it is quite nice. All of the stone work is really nice and it has a nice bar and restaurant right in the lobby. The main lobby itself isn't air conditioned like the other Areca hotels, but the elevator area and walkways to the rooms are which is good.

I viewed the Super Deluxe room which is going for 1990 right now (they have the pricing for this new hotel on the main Areca web site now) and it is very well done but very small. There is no walk in shower, but it has a large tub with a curtain around it and a showerhead in the wall.

I am checking in later this week, I'll post an updated report.

It has it's own check in area and staff. It even has it's own entrance (for cars too) on Soi15 which gives you access to the Avenue shopping mall in about 2 minutes walking or you can walk thru to the Soi Diana entrance as well. I think a LOT of people not staying at Areca are going to be walking thru now to get to the mall very quickly from Soi Diana.

Hi guys, I just went into the new wing at Areca, had a chat with my friend there who says it is all up and running and have almost full occupancy. She invited me up to take a look at one of the rooms which look very nice. This is a super deluxe rooms which are currently 1990 baht p/n (High Season rate) although are set to come down to low season rate in Feb.

There are definately more people around the back pool area, which it shares with the Corona wing.

I am sure their website will give you more info, but thought i'd post anyway.

I'm booked in May and there was a recent report that indicated a good stay.

Hello. Anyone been recently? What do you think of the new Evergreen wing?

Thanks.

stayed in corona wing early feb. went over to evergreen and looked through the rooms. superior rooms have a japanese style bed on the floor! looked o.k. but not to my taste. Next one up, the super deluxe looked the goods. 1700 through their website. 1540 through atsiam.com. i have booked it for july and november. did not have a look at luxury and patio suites, getting a bit rich starting over 2300bht.

cheers

Staying at the Evergreen now. Super Deluxe room 1700 baht per night. Hotel and room are nice but I think somewhat overpriced. Room is normal sized with a balcony. Nice large screen LCD Tv. Bathroom has tub with shower overhead. Walk out the door and a few minutes through the Avenue and you are on 2nd road. Have seen other hotel rooms similar to this in the 1300-1500 baht range. Overall ok but IMHO not worth 1700 baht.

Did see a nice new hotel just down the road in Soi Beukow (?) that has a opening promotion of 800 baht. Did not go in but looks nice from the outside. I think the name is Nature View.
