Alois Restaurant Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Not really posting with the intention of a discussion so to speak, more a case of putting this here for reference so if anyone searches in future this will turn up --

Alois Restaurant on Thappraya Road opposite Residence Garden hotel -- have been here for dinner very recently and wanted to say that I class it probably to be in the top 3 restaurants I've ever eaten at in terms of the quality of the food, the service and the choice available. The atmosphere is also very good. My meal came to 900bht which was a starter, soup, main and desert as well as a glass of wine. It might not be the cheapest however it is an excellent choice if you want to treat yourself once or twice during your stay. I would be amazed if anybody came out of this place dissatisfied. I'll be going back before I leave Pattaya, that is for sure

I always stay at the Residence Garden and the Alois is just across the street from the hotel. When I was in Pattaya from November to January my lady and I ate at this restaurant several times and on several occasions took other friends there with us. Each time we were pleased with the quality of the food and the service. The restaurant always seemed to be doing a brisk business each time we visited during this period.

When I returned to Pattaya in March we again went to Alois for dinner. This time the restaurant was empty with exception to one other man who was dining there. I ordered scallops and received a plate containing only three small scallops on top of a plate full of different greens. The scallops were like rubber. My lady ordered a steak which was as tough as an old boot.

I informed the manager of my disapointment in both the quality and quanity of the food and he said he would mention it to the chef and hoped that we would be better pleased on our next visit to the restaurant.

I told him "No problem, this is our last visit". I better understand why the place was empty on our last visit. Something has changed there but I am not sure what other than the quality of the food.

I can't recommend the restaurant highly enough. Hugh does a marvelous job there at very reasonable prices. The food is always excellent, beautifully presented, and the service is superb.

If you have not tried the Symphony restaurant, then you are missing a wonderful dining experience

How does the Symphony Restaurant (now closed, I think) relate to a discussion about Alois Restaurant?
