Simple have a mailing address in the States where someone can forward it on.

I have my Mums address and any mail she sends to me from England with internatiuonal signed for is here within a week.

I would say always go for signed for because otherwise mail has a tendancy to go missing.

The mail delivery in Thailand is excellent but most finance houses won't send that sort of stuff overseas. An intermediary is an excellent idea. I've never used registered mail but some people feel better wearing a belt and suspenders.

I will use a service such as in the following link. Most of these services reside in a non income tax state also. I have thought about moving to Nevada or Florida and obtaining a drivers license and severing any ties with the tax state I now reside in.

Having friends sort through your mail for long term or forever is a burden I would not want to have.

The Post Office has mail boxes, and Mail Boxes Inc has offices in Carrefour and on 2nd Road but you can just get it sent to wherever you are living. Sent to where you pretend to be living back home and then forwarded on under disguise is the best way if your people won't sort things out for you.

However, now is the time to plan. Get a bank with a presence in Thailand. HSBC is probably the best. At least that way you have a Bangkok contact. Citibank as well. For money, you would be best served sending tranches to a Thai bank and using the Thai bank for every day things. You can get a Thai bank with internet banking and a debit card very easily.

it is also advisable to have very good internet banking back home. The ability to send a SWIFT from back home to your Thai bank account without having to sign anything, with the facility available on your home bank's website is great news. Failing that, you surely need then to accept email orders.
