Actually the MotocyTaxi guy (green vest back to camera) picked it up off the street and put it on his bleeding head (no sense spoiling a good payout with trivia like 'mai mee moak')

It shows how fucked up Thailand is if a motorcycle taxi driver can put a helmet on a dead man's head and get away with it.

I have to ask for a helmet 99% of the time that I use a taxi, sometimes they say "mai pen rai, have no poleet"

Thats because you totally misunderstand the ethos here

Those plastic hats are not worn for protection against injury

Theyre worn for protection against police.

Strange mindset to Western eyes...

I recall stopping at a red light late one night up in Lom Sak the Thais in the car where astounded and pointed out that at that time there are never any police in the police 'hut' at the junction (therefore - to their way of thinking - why would anyone stop!!)

I saw another one this afternoon, same road - near Buffalo Bar. 2 bikes horrible wrangled, didnt see the bodies! Never ceases to amaze me, even after all this time here, that Thais drive motorbikes like they are immortal!

My GF's daughter drove motorbike with 2 friends as passengers, the three of them 15 and 16 - no helmets of course! Police stops them, ask for driving licence ( but did not lament the absence of helmets as apparently on that day police only check licence but not helmets  ), tickets them and going to Soi 9 an officer lambasted them for driving without a licence. Their response was that they are to young for a drivers licence and the understanding officer then reduced the fine by half!

Coming back from Chachoengsao Friday we saw an overturned 4x4 and a dead body some 2-30 feet away. We didn't know whether or not he was thrown out of the car or if he was pulled out by witnesses. there were about 100 people stood looking.

It made her and me go cold poor sod.

But I wonder if he was wearing a seatbelt. I always insist on belts being worn in my car by me and all my passengers you can just never be too sure. Thats another law that gets ignored almost uniformly here. In the UK it's an immediate fine and 3 points on your licence.

I'll have to try that...put a condom on my willy after I've dumped inside a girl.

Might make her feel better... :eyecrazy

and 3 points on your licence.

"Failure to wear a seatbelt carries a fine of up to £500, but no points will be endorsed on your licence. A fixed penalty notice will usually be issued, allowing you the option of paying a £60 fine."

I stand corrected, I always thought it was 3 points. Anyway only a fool would drive without a seatbelt on especially in Thailand where they have the driving skills of an inebriated babboon.
