The recent ads on Father Ray on Pattaya television really struck a cord with me so I did a search on him but didnt seem to find a single topic on this forum dedicated to him. Was he as great as the television ads put him?

The reason I am asking is I want to make a donation to his foundation but need to know the money is well spent.

As you know there are several places under the "Fr Ray" umbrella - although the orphanage 'broke away' a year or two ago. Do a search on the orphanage and you'll find plenty of stuff.

Father Ray's not here to defend himself anymore, so lets not get into all that. Even if there was something fishy , what he started is something worth supporting.

What I am concern is the current administrators but they look like they need all the help they can get. I'll do something , just have to decide on the scale of it.

every charitable organization in the world needs help...kids are starving and living in poverty in every major city in the world.

I don't read many posts from punters saying "I gave such and such to Save the Children"...but they do pipe up to make sure everyone knows they give to a Pattaya orphanage or the Camillian Center.

if you want to donate to a needy orgainization...fine....do it...I just don't see the need to blow your own horn.

Father Ray was an incredable individual. Most people could not have achieved a fraction of what he managed in his lifetime.

Despite all the despicable inuenos generated by the gutter press, he was inevitably 'cleared' of all alleged 'crimes. Of course by that time his reputation had been damaged.

Sponsored a kid at the Orphange about 20 years ago. Now she's left and we still have regular contact. In fact she costs me more now than when she was there.

The Human Help Network, with offices on the Orphanage site, does very similar work.

If you have any assets in Thailand and don't have a Thai Will, I think your assets go to the government upon your death (or maybe that is only if you don't have family in Thailand). You might consider making a Will in favour of the Fr Ray Foundation.

I saw a biography on Father Ray in Canterbury Tales bookshop on Soi Chaiyapoon last August. In fact there were a couple of copies. Looked like an interesting read. I would have read it if I'd had more time.
