I plan to go to tukcom to rent a phone for a month. Any idea what I should be expecting to pay? I just want a cheap phone, calling in Thailand only. No camera, no international calling, could be used. Should I be looking somewhere else than just tukcom?

You can purchase a brand new, basic cell phone for 1,000 - 1,100 baht.

BD is right. I went to Big C 14 months ago and got a basic Nokia for 780 baht and it included a Sim and 50 baht worth of calls which was plenty for 2 weeks. It was the same model as my Oz phone so the charger can be used to to for both phones and my aussie charger keeps the thai phone alive. So when i return in 3 weeks time I get a new sim at Swampy and make calls on the way down. With any luck I can have a girl waiting for me at the hotel when I check in (if I want). To the Op a 100 baht top should be more than enough. I doubt anyone rents phones although if you stay at Dancewatchers they will loan you one.
