buy a small food scale in Pattaya?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a small scale to measure food. Trying to follow a plan to lose some weight. I need a scale that can measure 100 grams, 150 grams, 200 grams, etc. Yes, I am REALLY planning to use it for food! :P I have been to HomePro, CarreFour, Lotus, no luck. Carrefour sales lady said "Finished". I love that word for "not in stock". :-)

Should I try Numchai? Tuk.com?

TIA!

The market on th ecorner of Sai 2 Soi 16 and Sai 3 (Third Rd) has them in various full scale amounts. I have 1kg, 2kg and 5kg units froim there. Sorry but cant remember the price but the quality was good as Ive been using them now for well over a year without problems.

To get there go down 3rd road from Pattaya Tai (towards Jomtien / Bali Hai Pier) and it is on the right at the first set of traffic lights. If you turn right at those lights it's Sai 2 Soi 16, on the left is Sai 3 Soi 17.

Thanks for the tips! :hairout I found what I wanted on Third Road at S&J Stainless, across from Tony's, which has lots of good cooking gear, pots, pans, coffee makers, stoves, waffle makes, utencils, and of course, small food scales. I checked that market mentioned above but they didn't have exactly what I wanted.

Snidely, great to hear that you found what you wanted. S&J are a good bunch, though a bit expensive sometimes, and I've bought lots of stuff there. They have a workshop out back and will do custom work if you need it.

In the market area you need to venture into a shop in the inside corner (hard to describe it any other way) and then wander around the aisles into the depths of the unknow before you find them. Lots of hidden treasures in that place, some of which may have been there for centuries LOL.

Is that the big place once known as J&P Stainless?

Yes malcontented, it's J&P Stainless, as you said. :thumbup

I got the initials wrong, from memory, which ain't what it used to be! :clueless

I did wander into the innards of those shops that you mention Admiral Ken, but still didn't find what I wanted. I asked a couple people, and they did find me a 5 Kilogram scale that was wrong for weighing food. But trying to explain what I wanted in English was hard! :thumbup One guy understood, and showed me the too big scale. Great shop for finding cooking stuff, odds and ends for the house, or your shop, or your food cart!

No worries. That photoguide is a bit out of date, so i thought it could have had a change of ownership.

Looks a good place to get kitchen stuff and not having the frustration of having to go to the "mai me" section of a supermarket
