Bars close on election days?

Can anyone ocnfirm if all the bars/agogos will close during the whole pre-election and election weekends (Friday - Sunday)? I assume that voting booths will be closed during the evenings and bars may open after the close of the voting booths each day.

but yes I think 2 successive week ends :

- "pre election" : Sat 25 & Sun 26 of June

- "election" : Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd of July

By law, commercial sale of alcohol (except inside tourist hotels) is banned from 6pm Saturday until midnight Sunday, when Sunday is the election day.

 

A pre-election is voting before a designated election day. The purpose is to allow people to vote, who know they won't be there on the actual election day.

 

The official election day is July 3. I haven't seen the official announcement on early voting, but it's almost certain to be the week before, as stated in the OP.

I booked a trip recently to Pattaya from the 29th of June to the 3rd of July, and I'm curious what will or won't be open in town. So gogos and large bars are closed, but what about small bars? Massage parlours? Restaurants? And will girls be around and available or will they all be gone?

I think I'm going up to the village to allow the TGF a chance to vote in her province. She just told me that if she doesn't vote (I think she said 3 times in a row), she is disqualified for government work and many commercial jobs requiring "good citizenship".

 

So, though voting is not mandatory, voting records can affect one's future career.

 

It sounds like a good system, but it's sort of worthless if they keep throwing out the elected government.
