Internet Services in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I apologize in advance for posting this topic here, but I have to make a decision right away about which internet provider to use. I am moving to a new condo, and it looks like I have 2 choices with regard to internet providers: TOT vs. BB3. I plan on using Netflix's movie on demand service, which is very bandwidth sensitive. I have tried the service in my current condo using the "free" wireless internet provided by the condo, and the quality of the streaming video from netflix was crap. So which of the two local ISP's provide the most reliable service, TOT or BB3?

You will find that this is very "location dependent".

You will find very happy customers with both

and very angry customers with both too...

I would say the best is to ask your neighbors which one they use and if they are happy with it.

Could not agree with this more. My personal experience with 3BB is that it is absolute crap.

I've never used TOT, and over the years, I've had problems with 3BB.

Nearly all my problems/outages with 3BB have been because of their messed up billing. I pay online, and they have changed the payment account or my account without notice. Then, I find I am cut off for lack of payment, even though I was sending the money to the last known account. It's sometimes taken days to get it resolved.

Most recently, I switched from an old MAXNET package 2MB/1MB with limited users to a newer 3BB 12M/1M package with more users. I'm now getting 6 or 7Mbps download speeds.

So far so good, and I am once again happy with them.

Where I am, I have TOT and the service centre office is located in Laem Chabang. I would not recommend them. I heard on the radio that Pattaya will soon have the fastest internet in Thailand when TOT lay their fibre-optic cables. Trouble is they have decided to await the completion of Thrappaya and Jomtiem 2nd rd before they dig them up.

Sorry, but Thapraya road will NEVER be completed. I lived in Jomtien 3 years ago, and it was always torn up and under construction. I noticed that maybe 2 or 3 times a month there would be construction crews out working on it, but the rest of the time the equipment stood idle. I'm sure it has a lot to do with government corruption. Anyway, I come back to Pattaya, and the state of Thapraya has HOT CHANGED in 3 fucking years!! That is one big reason that I would not consider living in Jomtien.

You should be able to get Sophon, faster, but more censored. If I were you, I would look into a True internet card. I'm not sure how fast they are in Jomtien, however they claim to be making major upgrades in the Pattaya, Chonburi area. I personally would look there first before tot, 3bb or sophon

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't even aware Saphon even had an internet service. Must be internet over cable. Will check into it. I'm not worried about censorship because I will be using a VPN through a proxy in the US
