I know some time back maybe two to three months ago the Pattaya City Council passed a resolution for a 90-day study to extension of the hours in bars and clubs.  The idea was to let the places that carter to foreigners stay open in Pattaya until 4:00am. Does anyone know what is going on with this and is it any closer to happening?

Subject dear to my heart old boy.

Yep they have been talking about it and passing resolutions for two years and so far that is about it. No worry though as if you know where to go you can drink till the sun comes up if you want and we have.

Why do they need to do a 90 day study anyway? Where the fuck were they before the 2pm closure was introduced? [smiley=banghead.gif]

I know, TIT. Couldn't have put it better myself.

There is a big difference between a beer bars staying open on the slide and the bars being allowed to stay open until 4:00 in the morning. As far as I know the 4:00 closure is still under study.

Got to agree with Rhino and VasH. By 2.00 I'm ready for slumber. I like to be able to get out and enjoy the sunshine, do some swimming etc during the day. But, hey, that's maybe my age  ;D ;D

If they were to move the closing time 2 hours in the other direction it wouldn't bother me.  I like to be back at my room by midnight so that I can get to sleep by 2 AM.  I didn't travel 8000 miles to drink.   ;D

Whish they would stay open to 4am again, I don't even drink(or smoke or do drugs)  but liked to hang with my friends and sometime if got up late in afternoon or could not sleep  I 8) knew I could go somewhere order a coke and sit and chat with thai girl or Farangs or go disco. They need to go back to 4am closing.

plenty of bars stay open as long as you want to drink in them,24 hour star bar (walking st) you can quite happily sit and watch the sun come up then b4 you know it its lunchtime and it all becomes one big 2 day session (and a blur).

a good drink every now and then doesnt hurt anyone even if you have travelled thousands of miles,i think too much sun is not good for you by that imho.

I was up early about 3 weeks ago and went for a walk down Beach Road then Walking Street.  I went past a couple of bars on W/S that were serving some very drunk customers at 07:00.  There were even a couple of ladies (two-baggers) that were hanging around waiting for someone to buy them a drink.  ( Actually, the gals on Beach Road that were out and about at 07:00 were better looking than the bar gals I saw.)    :>)

Now that high season has just about got under way how are things shaping up tourist wise? Know it is probably a bit early to tell but the hotels will give a clue with their booking offers if the bookings are on the light side. Was in Patong in May and to say it was dead would have been an understatement of huge proportions, in 8 years I have never seen it so quiet. Will be in Pattaya in about 3 weeks and can't wait. Looking forward to checking out FLB for the first time.

I have just arrived now and 'quiet' is very accurate description for most places.  However everyone seems to expect that January will be busy as usual.  My hotel is fully booked for then.  Last night I have popped into FLB and had a good time as usual ;D.

It could well have been my good self. We were drinking in the place accross from Tony's disco and at 3am the music went off but by about 5am it came back on and we were drinking until 9am some days.  All that was left to do was get a Burger King, copy of the Sun and a few laps of Pattaya on the Mo-ped while still pished as a fart!!! Then get up about 7pm and do it all again!!!

That's my first trip been and gone and I can see how everyone goes back time and again. Everyone I spoke to over there it was their 8th time, 12th time, etc. Missing the place like mad although I should be booked up to get back over next November in the first week in Januray.
