I think you may as well plan to lay low on the King's birthday.  Even the TV stations are closed that day, if I remember correctly (at least the ones I saw - they just played soft music and some sort of tribute to the King).

Maybe you should find a girl the day before and just take it easy that day.

Anything big should be closed, as should anything small !!!. Seriously, some places will have a sort of "members only" policy, going in through the back door etc. or knocking on the door etc. Maybe some on Soi8 might open but I'd have a take away for a couple of days. Even tell her 2 days before as she might want to combine it with her day off and go somewhere with friends.

I suggest making yourself known to the managers of a couple of go-gos and getting their cards and then asking then the next day about Dec 5

I was in pattaya last year and was told most everything was closed,I spent all day out scuba diving and went out for a few shandies late in the evening, most beer bars were open ,but very quietly with candles instead of the flashing neon.

to be honest it was that bad I took the first early night I'd had in a fortnight and had a proper 8 hours  sleep [smiley=zzz.gif]

I spent the last 2 nights of my August trip in Bangkok

The very last night was the Queens birthday

Luckily I had a TG from Nana Plaza from the night before  and spent the time with her

All bars in Bangkok were closed   Nana Plaza was in total darkness first time I had ever seen that

Just went shopping in Robinsons department store then got a bottle of vodka from Foodland and chilled out  in my room with TG  ;D ;D ;D

I was lucky to find her the night before otherwise my last night would have been lonely  :o

Cheers

Hello.

Was there last year. Me and my friend took 2 massage girls to Koh Lan Island for the day. Bahtbus was in service so were most restaurants. Some beer bars were open with their lights turned down. It was a nice day to relax the liver.
