Pattaya to Korat/Nakhon Ratchasima

Recommended Posts

On my next visit to Pattaya I'm thinking of taking a couple of days out to visit Korat.

Looking at the map it seems to be about 300km from Pattaya, via road no's 331 and 304 .  Does anybody know if there are direct (air-con VIP) buses to there and what the times and prices are,  or will I need to go back to Bangkok and get the bus from there?  I've tried to find a web site with Thai bus routes and timetable but had no success so far so if anyone knows of such site I'd be grateful if you could post a link.

Alternatively, what would be the cost of hiring a car and driver for the Korat trip?  Pattaya-Bangkok is about 1000 baht or so, would 1500 be about right for Pattaya to Korat?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

closest I could find was a bus schedule that shows Korat > Pattaya- but not the other way around. but at least it shows that there is a bus run between the 2 cities for about 200 Baht.  not sure how up-to-date the web site is.

perhaps an email to them at banjong@koratinfo.com  will help

Hello mate.

I've done the run to Korart a few times.

We got the BKS air-con bus from the stop near Foodland.

Unfortunately it takes about 6 hours.  ;)

It cost 300 B one way.

Actually we're off there again this year, but going by train.  Slower but i hate fucking buses.

I took the Bus from Pattaya to Korat twice.  You leave at a different bus terminal, it takes about 6 hours which really sucks.  If I was you I would pop a few pills and sleep all the way to Korat.

good luck

I took the trip Korat > Pattaya in May - took about 6 hours. The bus was an old non-VIP one and most of the fans did not work. A very gruelling journey !.

Hi

I was in Korat in September I decided that I would fly the flight was cheap I think around 1300 baht one way  the flight was only about 35 mins long to Nakhon Ratchasima airport though the only problem I could see is getting from the airport to the town, I was lucky as I was picked up by my TG in her car the airport is very quiet and very small I did not see any taxi's but thinking about it I was not looking for any I can't remember name of the travel agent I booked through in Pattaya but it is on beach road very close the entrance of Soi 2 it's a small place but the girl was very helpful and even arranged for a taxi to take me to the airport I find the name I will let you know

I hope this helps

Thanks for the responses.

It looks like the best option will be a car direct from Pattaya.  There will be 2 people travelling so I think the extra baht will be worth it to avoid a six hour bus journey.

cheers

The bus trip is an awesome scenic drive.  Just make sure you get the direct route with AC.  I used to buy 2 seats which gave a lot of stretch room.  I would recommend trying it at least once.
