Beware of ATM machine

I got hit with 8 withdrawal's from moscow bank plus transaction fee's adding up to $1800

glad i'm 100% covered but it still sucks

I now just go into the bank and draw money using my card and passport, much safer way i think, have been drawing money in Thailand this way the last 3 years

Same as me, plus i dont get charged for using my CC when i go into a bank.

so if i went into the bank with my nationwide debit card and passport i could just ask for x amount and thats it,no charge`s apart from what nationwide would charge me anyway.

i used to use my nationwide card all the time but since the 150 atm charge i`ve not used it since.

This is the 1st time in 8 yrs this has happened in thailand only 1 other time was in abu dhabi and was told bank person was selling the card info .

Yes have done this myself.It means you avoid the 150 Baht ATM charge(from the Thailand side of the transaction).

The Bank of Ayudhya is the one i go to with my CC card as they dont charge nor does my CC company. The only thing i get charged with is the interest for withdrawing cash with a CC, The day after i pay it off online, so i dont get no charges plus get a good rate.

How do you know it was that atm/exchange place?

Never happened to me and i've been coming here for 10 years.I pay attention when money is involved even when drunk and I withdraw almost every day from whatever atm is closest.

 

I almost got mugged on the Songtaew in august tho..

Are you sure it is this particular ATM where your numbers were captured? Would you mind taking a photo of the ATM?

Wow, not nice but glad you're not being stuck with the tab. Are they holding the money until it's settled or did you get it back immediately?

Bank told me it takes 24hrs to put it back so tonight i should see it . they e-mailed me a form to fill out and have to fax it back to them.

 

i only used 2 atm machines in thailand this 1 in pattaya and purple 1 at the airport after leaving customs and always used that every time without a problem the 1 on soi diana that was the 1st time using it .

 

Sure i'll take a photo of it next time i go back .

no i only use cash and i always book my hotel from agoda

 

and if i used my card all around town i wouldn't be saying it was this 1
