French horse 'Dunaden' today won the 2011 Melbourne Cup of 3200m at Flemington Race Course in the closest ever margin in the race's history, from another French horse 'Red Cadeaux'.

Hi,

I'd have had a little bet on it if Craig Williams had the mount as I knew he was going for a record. Christophe Lemaire is as good as any in the World in the Group 1's though.

Unless we start breeding stayers (which we wont as their is no races for them) we will be lucky to win the Cup every 15 years.

The oversea's Trainers have worked out the Horses they need to bring to win and they are just better stayers. Plus its cheaper for us to just go and buy a Group Class Stayer from oversea's to bring back to Australia.

I Backed the third Horse

Hi,

Ten furlongs seems to be the preferred distance for sires these days. Australian sprinters are superior to European ones though.
