You will be killed in your room

Recommended Posts

I hate how user reviews in some websites turned to a Commercial war, you read this review about a hotel that say,

" it’s not safe, you will be mugged in your room, and the tv cable have only 10 channels"

WTF, who care how many channels you got if you are getting mugged anyway, unless it’s a BS review from a competitor.

And I’m sure that most have seen lots of this BS reviews about different places and things.

This

I hate how user reviews in some websites

He's failed to mention or show links to said sites though, rendering the topic about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

On tripadvisor and many other travel websites, did you ever browse and see what people are typing there?

I can send you a daily link for lots of BS reviews, today I saw a guy complaining that the hotel doesn’t have a teeth brush?

I’ll look for the post about dungarees place with the 10 channels cable, I never thought that someone would argue about this, so I didn’t save the link.

No we just do not believe all the shite posted on the internet. Cut and paste the actual bit you are objecting to and post a link to the original post and we might believe you are not a troll.

So, you guys wana tell me that user reviews on the net are all accurate, or you just like to argue for the sake of arguing?

No, I would say they are to be taken with a pinch of salt.

There are often quite venomous ones that seem to have an axe to grind, perhaps the guest was refused permission to feed her shitzu at the table in the dining room. I looked at these reviews quite a bit planning a recent UK trip and found a lot of negative ones that were undeserved in my opinion.

For the teethbrush look at the reviews of Tim Boutique on tripadvisor, it seems you never read user reviews before, old folk?

Why are you being such a dick?

Your first post was senseless and without context. And you need 10 more to mention something pointless about an idiot expecting a toothbrush at Tim's Hotel, wow.

And you could have put it in the hotel section where it could be ignored as senseless there but at least in the right section.

No more or less inane than many other threads started by BMs IMHO. As a member of tripadvisor, virtual tourist, travellerspoint and travelfish, I am always wary of negative reviews when the majority are positive (within a similar time period).

This is kind of weird. Take a look at reviews of a Marriott, and a Motel 6 in the same city and both will have good and bad reviews, and for different reasons. A woman that checks into the Marriott and the hair dryer doesn't work and it's a big deal. Motel 6 doesn't even have a hair dryer. Some people are nit picky little shits, and others have had a truly bad experience. It's up to the reader to tell the difference. If I checked into a hotel and the toilet didn't work, you could say that you wouldn't go there. Someone else might think that maintenance just hadn't got to it yet, or that management didn't know about it. However if I said the toilet didn't work, the air-con didn't work, and the TV only had one channel and no sound, then anyone would know that the place is not well maintained, and that management doesn't care.

Some reviews can be done by friends of the owner as well. There is a guest house on Soi LK that has glowing reviews on trip adviser, you may recognize some of the names.

lol i think that most reviews i read on tripadvisor or similar sites have good and bad reviews on each hotel, i think that means that you cant please everyone as peoples expectations all differ.. one mans dump accommodation is another mans luxury. in fact i think i might be suss if all reviews claimed that the hotel was perfect and without fault, then i would think either i found the perfect hotel or all the reviews were written by hotel management... the only way i'm ever sure about a hotel is go stay there myself and check it out, and i always take my own toothbrush :toilet_claw:

I understand what the original poster is saying regarding reviews posted about hotel on the internet. In the UK if you do a hotel search through Google I think Trip Advisor takes up the 1st two pages ! so people do look at the reviews.

Last year in the Uk Trip Advisor got slated in the press as some reviews were clearly posted by jealous competitors. I think Trip Advisor have had to makes some changes to try and stop this practice. Owners of the reviewed hotel can and often do respond the reviews given.

But do not take the people who read these reviews for fools, people can see when comments are petty and have the ability to consider all the reviews and make a decision based upon that.

Reviews are useful because it makes decent hotel owners aware of problems giving chance to fix and respond to genuine complaints as well as warning potential customers of bad places.
