I usually check in online to get my seat then head to the counter at the airport and go to the baggage drop counter, they print my boarding pass for me there.

Is the baggage drop separate to the check in desk and if so where is it?Are there still a lot of people queing there or is it quicker than queing at check-in?Would i need to queue at check in and then again in baggage drop.

Thanks

Upstairs in the jumbo or A380 is good too.... you can see better from up there!

Back downstairs with the peasants I read on Business Traveller that on the A380 when rostered on the London route, that the economy seats are reduced to 32" pitch from 34" with the addition of those awful footrests, that remove another inch when still in the upright position ??

I'm going to stick with Air India !! Nice big seats in serf class....

I flew out on the 11.50 flight and was able to check in before 8 am. I had already pre-booked a window seat, but when I arrived at check-in there was no queue at all and , as always, asked for a seat with extra legroom. They told me to speak with the supervisor at the front desk. She then changed my seat to one by the exit doors. I've done this many times before, the only downside is you can't see the TVs clearly for the 'in flight entertainment'!!

Hope that helps

  • 4 weeks later...

I received an email from Thai today saying that from 16th January this year they have their A340-600 aircraft on the London route twice daily. Any members flown on the Thai version of this aircraft, if so how was the legroom and the inflight entertainment, was there seats back avod systems ? I checked seat guru and they say legroom is between 32-34 inch pitch which is reasonable for economy.

Been quite a few years since I went on Thai, their 747's had good legroom but the let down was the lack of avod and generally expensive a few years back. Would maybe give them another look if this aircraft is okay. I know Qatar's A340-600 is quite well laid out and no problems for myself reference legroom.

I live within a approx 5 min WALK from Heathrow, and they seemed to have replaced the A340's as of late. They are now back onto the B747's, and i have been told that AVOD has now been introduced onto these B747'S.
