Guys, click on the green +1 button for his posts if you appreciate the fact that gimmbles has taken the time and effort to write this report in such detail.

So let's try to get this clear, what is the purpose of these + and - buttons?

I'm sure many people have not been using them in the way MM suggests above, particularly after his previous comment on the subject -

That's what the Green PLUS sign at the right lower corner of the post is for!

So, are the buttons to say:

i) you agree/disagree wih the comments, or

ii) you think the post is a good/bad post?

I think it would be good if the authoritative response could be pinned.

Bazle, do you strongly agree with bad posts - or disagree strongly with good posts? Strongly enough you'd feel you had to rate them?

1. There's no rule. Click or don't click, when you feel like it, for the reason you feel like it. Get all negative on a guy for his stupidity, his lousy grammar, his stupid opinion, for his horrible board name. Click green when you feel like it. Really.

2. If there were a rule, it would be unenforceable. How would anyone KNOW why you clicked, or refused to click?

3. There is no rule.

The green and red apply to the poster's "reputation", but the score shown on the post is the score or sum of the plusses and minuses for that post.

It's pretty simple really.

It's hard to avoid seeing it now.

Yeah, I noticed you popped that in there just now.

Do you think it might get us bad boys to behave?

I gave him a +1 today. I don't think his reputation score is merited vs. some decent contributions made. Every little bit helps.

Joe is rapidly progressing to neutral and I guess will be positive soon.

Not sure how this is working out... is Joe actually concerned by his negative rep, and is being nice?.................

nah.

So many BMs don't like to see red! :clueless

I think its all bollocks, myself. Not many other forums activate the Rep function. Its a bit like school IMO. It does not actually mean anything, as anyone can activate the minus button if someone does not agree with their point of view, even if it is a good post, or even worse, if someone does not like another member, they can just use their quota of negative points everyday on that member.

Joe makes some good posts, (I do not always agree with them) but I don't see why he should have a red negative and you a slimy green one, with teachers points :llaugh I dont see that it reflects quality of posts at all, and what is a reputation ?? reputation for what ??

I see MM has the most positive points, probably just coincidence though, I guess. :a2m :thumbup

I see you are full of Christmas cheer and bon-homie. :P

I bet it is dark and dreary there in the UK.

What time are you expecting the sun up.....about 9am, perhaps, in April?

Lovely and sunny here already. Try some egg-nog.

Xmas is over, the turkey is all but gone. I am a Muslim sympathiser (apparently) , why should I celebrate Christmas anyway ?? :llaugh

Egg-nogg is for gay people in pink leotards I prefer my second bottle of Jack Daniels winter warmer.

Do I get a negative score for this post ??
