I would have thought the same. So, no point in dragging a four portion family grill out there if it aint gonna work. Can't say I fancy quadrupling the price and probably doubling the weight by jumping in for the transformer too. Hmmmm, back to the drawing board it seems....

You originate from the UK, the voltage there is nearly the same and hence you can bring one.

Bring 2, MM needs a new one!

Right, plan B. What are the other brands called that your gf thought superior, and where can they be purchased? Cheers!

I honestly did not pay attention. She is such a good cook I just try to stay out of her way until the food is ready to eat. If she wants to buy a cooking device I know enough to just say "ok" and prepare to eat some delicious food. Although I don't think she has actually bought anything yet, but I'll see if she can give me any brand names.

Bob, you're gonna get Regyai off on touristy types again :P

Anyway, as I said earlier, a converter for 1000 watts tends to be quite expensive and heavy..at least, that's what I concluded at the time with my zero understanding of electrical technology.

I just did a google search and there are many sites like this one (it was listed first) that have convertors/transformers for sale and shipping.

Here is a site where you can order a 220 volt George Foreman Grill:

Hope this helps, but I don't know about shipping charges to get it to LOS.
