Pattaya to Phitsanulok – how to go ?

Recommended Posts

What is the smartest (easiest most comfortable & cheapest) way to go from Pattaya to Phitsanulok ?

I am thinking it must be either bus or flying – but both options has some drawbacks:

The bus takes 8 hours and the latest bus leaves at 19:15 (NCA) so you will arrive at 03:15 – the earlier option with departure 16:20 is not so much better.

And can it really have heard it right that it is not possible to buy a ticket the day before or at the same time you are ready to go on the bus ?

As I heard it you have to buy the ticket at 8 in the morning on the same day that you want to ride.

The plane is more expensive (mainly if you also add a taxi to/from the airport). The airport bus from the “Foodland square” in Jomtien or the Bell service would be possibilities – but now the cheaper domestic flights are back in Don Muang – are there any busses to DM ?

Bell does a service to DM (350 Baht), but AOT does a free service from Suvarnabhumi. I'd take Bell to Suvarnabhumi and the AOT service from there to Don Mueang if cost was the priority. See Firemansam's excellent post in the Airline Discussion section re the BKK-DMK-BKK shuttle service.

Thanks - that is an option - I am thinking that a bust to MorChit and a bus MorChit - Phitsanulok is also an option - if I can find a MorChit - Phitsanuloktimetable. But it IS a long drive :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I've done the Phitsanulok to Pattaya trip by bus once. 78 hours on the bus and was knackered by the time i got there.

Used Nok Air ever since and now they fly about 4 or 5 times daily, 50 min flying time from DMK

78 hours.... there is a bus leaves off Sukhumvit Pattaya (Nakhonchai Air) that goes through Phitsanulok heading to Mai Sai. which skirts Bangkok.

Even changing at Moechit would not take 78 hours....!

Could he have meant 7-8 hours? Short trip, if you ask me. Try getting to Ubon or Chiang Rai in such a short time. I like the busses cause i can sleep. When you add in all the check-in time at airports along with travel to Don Muang, you don't save that much on a short air flight like that.
