Big pimpin:most expensive guest friendly hotel

A place that looked like alot of potential is the View Talay Villas in Jomtien.  These have their own private pool for your friend to have his own private party with a few TG's.

lookn4domi,

Since you have stayed at the pattaya marriott so recently, please tell us what the room rate was that you paid, and the online agent you used.  If you would be so kind.

I have read reports that the rooms are somewhat over rated.  Apparently you do not feel that way.

BKB,

I have stayed at the Marriott but not recently, it's one of the best in my opinion, great location.  I have stayed at the Dusit and think it's over rated, also I had big TG trouble at that place.  I had a long argument with the night manager before finally getting my TG in for no cost.

The best place is probably Royal Cliff, I have not been there and it's a little out of the way.  In my opinion your friend should spend 2,500 per night and stay at Sandy Spring, the 10,000 or so he saves a night he can be the most popular bloke in town.  It's not the Marriott but to be honest, I spend a lot of time in 5 star hotels in Asia, I'm a fussy prick when it comes to hotels, and your friend will be very happy at Sand Spring.  it's two minutes from the Marrriott so he can walk down and check their rooms, for the price and quality differnce he won't change, actually I'd bet he prefers Sandy Springs suite (get him to ask for 8th floor) .  There's pictures etc in the hotels section.  Generally hotels in Pattaya are a little more basic than big city 5 star.  Book direct with SS or many online booking agents for Marriott, just search on google or something.  Think I paid about usd $70 - 80 for the Marriott but it was a while ago.   Cheers

For proximity to the beach/sea; http://www.siamhotels.com/sbs.html

Ask for beachfront room.

If beach proximity is not the most important thing; http://www.sunshinevista.com/rates.htm

Not sure about the 'Guest friendliness' of the the Dusit ans Siam Bayshore. Though, maybe, with the more expensive rooms there will be no petty 'extras'.

Sunshine Apartments are 'friendly'.

I think I would try the "Cabbages & Condoms" resort.  If you can get one of the rooms right on the edge of the cliff, you have a nice view over the sea with no other hotels in sight.  I like the nice garden atmosphere.   It's out of the way a bit but if you can afford to spend that much on a room, you should have no trouble paying the 100 baht to get into town and there is no shortage of baht buses at the entrance.

Cheers

SoCalGuy quote.

I originally booked it for free with Marriott points the decided to pay and keep the points since it was cheap relative to other Marriot destinations I can use the points on. I think I paid about $65/night.  The room I stayed in first was nice. It was on the inside with a view of the pool. It was a great room, better than the Marriott rooms you'd find in most cities and nicer than the JW Marriott in BKK.

That changed though when they started working on something in the room next door. My room started to smell like glue. I complained so they moved me to another room. They were very nice about it, very deferential to that fact that I'm a Marriott gold card holder, and moved to to another room.   Holy Shit !! This room was incredible. It was up on the 10th floor at the end of the building with a view of the ocean. The way the building is set up on that end the floors are tiered and I had a porch 3 times the size of most hotels rooms with a few barca loungers, chairs and a table.

If money were no price that's the room I'd go for.

The rates are definitely up for xmas. They wanted $1,700 for ten days in a standard room starting 21/22. I think it was over $200 a night on the 24th and 31st. I'm not sure if that includes the xmas and new years gala's or not.

Lookn4domi,

Thanks for the info on the Marriott.  I suppose it is not possible to get those end rooms you describe when going through online retailers like asia travel and others.  Maybe you have to call the hotel directly.  The room sounds very appealing though.  Any suggestions as to how to get a good rate would be appreciated!

Priceline had one on there a few weeks ago. It wasn't on the blind bid approach it was thru an area listing. It might be available, the price for that was outrageous. I don't remember the amount but I'm guessing over $3,000 US for ten days including New Years and Xmas.

You can find out what the Marriott wants directly at www.Marriott.com

Not guest friendly in either case.  But if you're up for spending 14,000 per night, does it really matter?

I can say from experience that the Dusit doesn't seem to have an attitude problem with guests as long as the guests return the favour.  Never had any problem taking girls back there myself.
