How much for Flipper Lodge in January?

Recommended Posts

   Hi All,

I just sent an email to the Flipper Lodge(Soi 8 ) requesting rates for 3 nights starting Jan. 19th, 2004. Their website shows rates of B1000 for cityview, B1100 for seaview, and B1300 for deluxe. Will they give me a better rate if I by-pass the website reservation and book using email? What price should I try to negotiate them down to for each room category? Thanks up front.

Hello,

You'll be there in January and I'm not sure that leaves you a LOT of room for negotiations during high season. I stayed last janaury and got 850 for a "seaview" room. Be aware....make sure your seaview room is above the 4th floor or you will only see the wall of the building next to you.

Thanks OnMyWay & Emil. I called the Flipper Lodge and they told me that there were no rooms for my three nights, Jan 19-22. I've got a nagging feeling that they have rooms but weren't going to book for only 3 nights. Possible?

No, that is almost certainly an honest reply. The Flippers are nearly always totally booked for January, and often February as well. There are at least 4 package companies use the place (UK & German), let alone solo bookers. You might get lucky on the day with a late cancellation tho'. Try one of the Eastinys, Bella "wotsit" or Sunshine. All of a similar standard and in the same area. Avoid the Sunbeam like the plague!

I have found that the standard answer from hotel staff is "no room". But if you go through the Flipper's web site there is a much greater likelihood you will get rooms.  I have booked a room for November (I am going to cancel and stay in the Sabai Lodge instead)  through the web site. Hotel staff had told me  there was no vacancy for the same dates. Also, I asked for and got a discount over whatever they advertised on the site.

I've booked a room from mid December to mid January for 800 Baht/Night. I've sent an email with my details and got a reply 2 days later. But to get a room in high season you should place your reservation as early as possible. Now it's definitely to late.

I sent an email looking for accomodations in January, and have not received even a rejection-maybe they are full now and do not need to respond. mai pen rai

A pity, too, as I was prepared to tip the cleaning help a few thousand baht for a couple of extra towels. ;D James

I wouldn't give up ... a couple of days isn't that much. If you really want to stay there you could try calling them also (the main office, not the hotel) asking for a response. I had to do that with another hotel and since then they have been extremely prompt in returning email messages.
