Well done to the USA Tomahawks - RLWC 2013

Recommended Posts

Well done to the USA Tomahawks for reaching the Rugby League World Cup 2013 Quarter Finals in their first appearance in the competition, beating Wales and The Cook Islands in the process.

Their next match will no doubt be their last as they will face the World Ranked No1 Aussies.

yes its a huge achievement. Before the tournament started their "expert rating" was "partytime" In other words they were not there to play football because they were too useless, they were there to party.

Another expert opinion bites the dust.

This Rugby League World Cup is astonishing, with some of the lesser known teams putting in sensational performances! The USA are perhaps the biggest surprise, but Italy and Scotland are up there too. I can't believe how good the tournament is,lots of quality on show across all groups. Great advertisement for the code.

I was surprised to see Scotland playing rugby league ... a quick check shows they have more players born in Halifax than in Scotland. :clueless

Don't know about Halifax, but the the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment is headquartered in Windsor, Ontario http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Essex_and_Kent_Scottish, so who knows? Perhaps Halifax has a special dispensation being in Nova Scotia.

Most of the players have qualified to play for Scotland by having Scottish Grandparents, and they are all are proud to represent Scotland. Went to see Scotland v Italy last weekend, great match in front of a sell out crowd.

All the matches are being broadcast live in the UK and did notice that Singha was been advertised on the electronic hoardings during the Australia v Fiji match.

They are trying to get Rugby League going in Thailand so there is a chance at some point in the future that there might even be a Thai team in the World cup. There is a couple of young Thai lads playing for my county's youth teams in the UK.

The lads playing for the USA have done their country proud. Just watched Scotland V USA and was well impressed by the effort put in by the USA, leading 8-0 at half -time before getting beat 22-8. They never gave up.

We should expect to see lots of players from Belize making the grade soon.
