Qatar v Emirates Economy 777

Recommended Posts

Hi i am looking at booking a flight Man to BKK & my options as usual seem to be Qatar , Emirates & Ethiad.

After using all 3 previously i tend to prefer qatar but also have never been on a a380. Is it worth a try?

Can anybody confirm that qatar 777 are still 3-3-3 rather than 3-4-3 as are emirates & ethiad?

I read somewhere that they are now also 3-4-3 & skytrax etc are way out of date.

My choices seem to be a couple of flights on 330 & 777 on qatar, a couple on 777 & a380 with emirates.

Thanks for your help.

Qatar are still only 9 abreast in economy on their 777's, there are two different cabin configurations on their 777, IMHO the best economy seats are the ones at the rear of the first economy cabin either 17A,B or 17J or K, or 24 A,B or 24 J or K depending. Both these sets of seats are only two across, they have sufficient recline and nobody is behind you to upset.

Qatar's A330's are nothing to write home about, must be some of the oldest aircraft in the fleet.

I found Emirates A380 quite good in economy, but I always managed to get the best seats which are 68A or K and 81A or K these seats give unlimited legroom and direct isle access. You used to be able to pick these seat from the manage my booking part of their website, not too sure about that nowadays as I nearly do all my travelling with Qatar.

I was a Gold Card FF with Emirates for many years and have been Gold with Qatar for the last three years.

They are both shit , you are better flying from Heathrow with a decent carrier.....!

He is originating from Manchester.

Heathrow is a complete shit hole.

Tickets seem to be expensive with 2 UK take-offs/landings.

10 abreast on a 777 is horrible

I flew on Etihad 10 abreast last year and was no discernable difference to be honest. Seat width didn't appear smaller at all

Thanks so much for all your replys guys especially Fireman Sam for such a detailed response very much appreciated.

King Midas cheers for saying you noticed no discernable difference, compared to Horrible from timorno.

At the moment qatar with good connection times is comming in dearer than the other 2 for my dates.

Having said that probably not going to book for 2 or 3 weeks unless i see a cant refuse deal.

As Jacko says would much sooner go from Manchester but i suppose at a push i could do heathrow.

Nightrider why would you say that & who would you suggest? Shuttle flights at the mo Man to Heathrow are only about £35-40 each way so i could look into it perhaps if the deal was right?

Thanks again chaps

Oman prices for Febuary are just over £400 and I rate them higher than Qatar Etihad or Emirates nothwithstanding biggest economy seats in the industry
