Taco House on Soi BuaKhao

Recommended Posts

The Soi BuKhao - LK Metro area is building up quite a variety of good places to eat at a reasonable price. Taco House is a recent addition in the Tex Mex category. Popular items (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, chili con carne, nachos, burgers, etc.) are served fast-food style, but are nevertheless tasty and inexpensive.

Remember, Taco House serves Tex Mex, which isn't the same as Mexican food.

Taco house is across the street from the Sawasdee Siam and sandwiched between a currency exchange and a pharmacy. The closet familiar landmark for many would be Pook's Bar.

Chili con carne with cornbread (140 baht).

For those who don't favor cornbread, the chili con carne can also be served with rice or chips.

You have a choice of meats (ground beef, chicken, several types of pork) and rice, beans, salsa fresca (Pico de Gallo), cheese, sour cream, guacamole, etc.

Not a big place - four tables for four, plus a few "counter seats."

I do love menus on the wall!

I found the chili being used with these meals to be strangely non-Mexican/TexMex.

Frankly, I wasn't impressed...I might try again tho, just to be fair.

Thanks. Seems like Buakhao will soon be called Eats Steet. The meals looked OK but the chilli looked a bit sparse for the price? Unlike MM I wouldnt know a Mex flavour so that is lost on me but I will certainly put this place on the list.

I realise that this is possibly not the right place but I was introduced to the two small Thai places and the Greek souvolaki bar next door to the Malee (about 50 metres past the Sawadee heading north.). My God but these places are brilliant value for money as I have walked out stuffed for less than 100 baht on a few occasions..

The owner of an extremely popular and large Mexican restaurant where I live decided to have a little fun and created his own version of a Mexican fast food restaurant.

That little place puts out the tastiest beef tacos I have ever had anywhere.

This is the Taco House from Soi Buakhao..it's between Brooklyn Diner and Pook Bar.

This was my taco al pastor..the chili sauce burned in the back of my throat rather than on my tongue. Unless I've just been away from Mexican spices too long, that's not the way I remember it should be.

The chili con carne was a hearty serving, but I would have preferred more sauce or "soupiness" to the dish. I enjoyed soaking the corn bread in the chili.

This is one of their burritos that my friend ordered. He didn't care for it at all. I didn't taste it.
