This is the law in thailand and i know it not the same as other countries as follows

 

We the rental company don't need to see your license that is down to the renter to have a full motorbike license but as i've done in the past and i did this last week for one customer i helped them to obtain both car and bike thai licenses within two days.

 

this well give you some idea of whats involved.

The bikes have the standard government cover as we can't get any other cover for renting bikes as I've tried before many times.

I always suggest K.Bank sell personal insurance cover and its worth getting it also if we had a full A1 cover on the bikes

No one would rent them as we have found its all to do with how cheap the rental cost is and not the cover.

 

So renting bikes out as little as 80 baht per day adding a A1 cover would push the prices over what people want to pay...

 

Every bike comes with a build in lock and we supply an extra wheel lock with every bike.

 

As with every rental company in thailand the renter is 100% responsible for the bike and we tell every customer to lock the bike up using both lock and we have never lost any bikes.

Now when i first come to pattaya and i rented a bike i was told i was fully responsible for the bike and i was asked by the company to pay an extra 1400 baht on on top of the 14 days rental so a total of 3360 baht for 14 day at a cost of 240 baht per day.

 

This would give me a 50% waiver on any lose or damage to the bike and 50% of any hospital cost but after i read the small print and it only covered me up to a total of 50'000 baht..

 

Would any one be willing to pay this ?

Any time i've ever been stopped by the bib on a rental bike, as long as i have my International Driving Licence and copy of my Passport with relevant Visa stamp (from Kodak shop by Soi Diana/Bauhkao junction), they have been fine, just waved me on after a quick look.

I bought the new one with the idle stop and the mag wheels etc, cost 54k, its quick enough, only done 1800 km and bored with it now. Im looking for a brand new 150 PCX and ill go get one from Bovin just outside of Pattaya as my friend bought one there 3 months ago 5k cheaper than any place in Pattaya

If you are patient and keep a sharp lookout, you can get a 2013 PCX for more than 20,000 baht less than the current retail for a new one. It is likely to have no more han 5000 km on it, and will still be under warranty.

I bought one and am happy with it.

If i was thinking about that kind of expense, i would probably consider a 600cc Honda or Kawasaki (and take the expense a bit higher) I am not keen on the Forzas.
